Under what circumstances can you break a traffic law in the presence of a police officer and not get a ticket?

Update:

Come on, people, think outside the box. There's one that hasn't been mentioned yet. :)

As long as you're not endangering someone else, you would be able to break several laws without receiving a citation.

Example, going through a red light, illegal turn. Use your imagination. These actions would be acceptable to avoid an accident if someone was about to strike you.

The officer has disgression in writing tickets. He will base this on the time, seriousness of the offence, demeanor of the offender and other factors which he feels are pertinent to the situation.

If ordered to do so by the police, such as when they are directing traffic at a crash scene and they motion you to go through a red light.

Otherwise, any other infraction can get you a ticket if witnessed by an officer.

To move out of the way of an emergency vehicle. When directed to do so by a police officer or flagman for construction.

Only in extreme emergency situations. Like rushing an injured person to the hospital, you just have to exercise extreme care with your driving at the same time and not drive outside of your abilities.

Or in defense of your self or to preserve life. You can kick in someone's door because you see them out on the floor and smell gas.

It the police officer is your "pal", he will probably let you off on more than just a traffic ticket. Or, if you are rich. Ask Paris Hilton.

Emergency situations.......where the circumstanses of not getting a sick person to the hospital, someone giving birth, or the person may die; are far greater than the risk that is being taken.....speeding, recless driving, roll through stop sign.....
