They don't have to be identical. Get something that goes together. Lock & key, peanut butter & jelly, milk & cookies....i'm not saying to get these done, just to think about things that go together. You can get matching tattoos if you want. Or get the flower of your birthmonths done. Or think of something special that you two do together and get something related to that. Like if you go to the beach together get seashells or a starfish or seahorse or something like that. Or find a quote that you both like and get it done on each of you. Or get animals done (baby animal on you and mommy animal on her).

It's a little odd, but certainly there is nothing wrong with being this close to your mother. Heck, if your a teen than I wish that most teenagers loved and respected their parents this much! I say you go for it! (Despite the fact that I would never get a tattoo or piercing 0.0)

I designed tattoos for my husband and I that are "matching".

What we did was get chinese symbols. His are more sturdy blocks, he has my name as the biggest part or main part, of the tattoo in the chinese symbols. Around it go up and over his shoulder are the symbols for husband, father, son, truth, honesty and love. Its done in black and blue.

Mine, is a bit smaller on my shoulder. Its green black pink and purple. It has his name as the main part, and then I have little symbols going through a flowered vine that say wife, mother, daughter, truth honesty and love.

They are "matching" but they are both very different.

What you need to do is come up with something like this. You can get "matching " symbols or you can design 2 different tattoos with the same basic design. Use eachothers name, just get mother or daughter symbols, get astrological signs, ect. Matching doesnt mean it has to be exactly the same, the whole experience will be really neat..

Me and my mom are doing the same thing, just not for Christmas. Just try to find something that you both like. Say, for instance, you both have a love for cooking. You could get some type of kitchen utensil. Something like that.

Well, It depends on your taste. You could do a baby tiger cub, and she could do mama, or any animal that you both like... a ring of your favorite flowers to show the circle of life, think of anything that matters to you both, and theme it off of that.

Just remember, it's permanent. I got my tats when I was 17, 18, & 19, and two are fine (in private area), but I wish I hadn't gotten the one on my back. It's beautiful, but doesn't look so hot now that I'm 41.

Us.. as strangers on yahoo answers... dont know anything about you and your mom so how can we decide? Think of a memory you 2 share and get something to symbolize or remind you of that... if you can't come up with anything by Christmas between the 2 of you on your own maybe get something else for christmas...

Definately get something symbolic to your relationship. Sit down with Mom and decide how you would define your relationship...are you like best friends, have you been through tough times? Find a symbol that sums it up.

Your names in a nice script-like font would be nice, or maybe each other's birth month's flower?

Or something symbolic of the two of yours love for each other, intertwined hearts, flowers (maybe one in full bloom, and one that isn't open yet).

I think as your first tattoo it would be good to get something nice, easy snd simple. When I went to get my first tattoo, I begged my mom to get one with me. So she could share that expierance with me. ( corny I know.) I decided to get a star design on my left shoulder and she decided to get a heart on her ankle with my initals with my brothers and sisters initals. they both came out wonderful.

Do you both have anything in common?

Do you both want color tattoos?

Do you both want the same tattoos?

I asked my mom those questions, but we both came out with two different tattoos. ha ha ha.

Here is a picture of something I think both of you would like and enjoy getting together.

    Good luck!

Source(s): 19 with 3 tattoos, and geting more. LOL!

I think that the fact that your mom is letting you get a tattoo at 16 is irresponsible and she should be ashamed of her self wait until you are 22 and if you still want it then you will be old enough to make a good decision.
