How do I stop my 5 month old lab from yelping like a rabid beast in the mornings?!?

I recently adopted a pound puppy so my 6 month old pug could have a companion. One of the problems is that every morning around 5 or 6, she starts crying, which turns into yelping and she starts to sounds like she's screaming. She starts freaking out to where she's crying so loudly you can hear it outside, she's shaking her kennel, and yipping and barking. At first I thought she just needed to go potty but that isn't it. Does anyone have any ideas about to stop this? I got my pug when he was 8 weeks old and he never did this. He cried at night when he was put in his kennel but that was it. The lab only does this in the early, early morning.

Honestly, it sounds like she does REALLY needs to go potty. You said that wasn't it, how do you know? Did you take her out and she not go? Did you put her back in her crate and she continued to cry? Even if either of those are the case, that may still be the problem.

Dogs that old can't always hold their bladder or bowels all night, so she may have to go, but she's old enough to know she shouldn't go in her crate.

Try getting up at 5, taking her outside and waiting at least 2 minutes to give her enough time to pee and poop. Then bring her back in and put her back in her crate. She will probably cry and whine for a little while when you put her back in, because she knows when she gets taken out in the morning that she normally stays out. But after a few days this will become a routine for her and she will stop. Give it at least 4 days and see if that helps. Starting at about 6 months old extend the 5am potty break to 5:15 for 2 weeks and then add 15 minutes every 2 weeks until its you're normal wake up time.

If potty isn't the reason, then it's getting to be a habit. Try a small spray bottle with water and when he shows bad behavior sprizt him in the face. It will not hurt him but dogs hate it and they start to associate this bad habit as an unpleasant feeling. you'd be surprised how fast this works.

sure, your dogs IS scared to be on my own. A dogs is a p.c.. animal and does no longer decide to be on my own. How long are your long previous from abode daily ?. Be undemanding and count form up the time you spend employing to and from paintings. Now think of a 4 or 5 12 months previous being abode on my own that long. in case you could no longer take care of to pay for to get your domestic dog a chum, evaluate taking her or him to doggie day care. in case you could no longer do this, depart your dogs some article of clothing you have worn and does no longer concepts that he makes use of it for a convenience blanket. depart it in his mattress, alongside with a clean rawhide chew, a Kong crammed with treats and depart the radio on an difficulty-free listenting station for some back floor buzz.

Try a bark collar on the lowest setting. Contrary to popular belief, bark collars do not hurt the animal, it causes a surprising feeling that takes their mind off what they're doing - barking! A few days with the collar and she'll probably never cry again and you can simply take it off.
