The French word "pain" means "bread" in English.
The English word "pain" mean "douleur" in French.

Pain is french for the word bread. If you want to say that something hurts, like your head, it would be "je mal a la tete" very loosly translated, " my head is bad " all the same, even though it sounds like you mean " I'm bad in the head ( i.e. crazy)" french speakers know you mean headache. The actual word for "pain" in french is "doleur" I believe.

"On" is a French pronoun roughly translated as "one" in English. It refers to a person. Do not mistake it for the number one, which is "un". Example: "On mange poliment." / "One eats politely." Edit: For a cat, I would use "il" (he) or "elle" (she). Both words can also mean "it", depending on the gender of the animal.
