Islam and Evolution?

A friend of mine lives in a predominantly Muslim country but is not Muslim herself. She told me that Muslims believe in something like a reverse evolution... that apes were men first and evolved into apes over time due to sin. Does Islam teach this? If so, what does the Qu'ran say about it? Is there any scientific evidence used to support it?

///no dear, it is not concerning reverse evolution the story you pointed here(WHICH I EXPLAINED LATER DOWN).

the quran says about man :

*"We honored the children of Adam and exalted them above many of Our other creatures" (Bani Israil 70)

**"Allah has created man in the most excellent of moulds"al-tin

***"Allah appointed man His vicegerent on the earth and commanded the angels to bow down to him (Al-Baqarah: 30,34, Al-Anam: 165, Al-Araf: 11, Al-Hijr 28,29, An-Naml: 62, Suad 71- 73)

****"Man has become bearer of the Divine trust, which the earth and the heavens and the mountains did not have the power to bear (Al-Ahzab 72)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

///WILL,CONCERNING YOUR POINT:the sinners who were converted to apes as a punishment by god did not proliferate after they were converted(they did not have children as mentioned in sunnah).so it is not reverse evolution. it is a miracle done by god.it is not difficult for him to do that for he was the creator of men and apes.

the quran says about the story:"2:65 for you are well aware of those from among you who profaned the Sabbath, whereupon We said unto them, "Be as apes despicable!"

no we are not descentant of apes , but we believe of some of the evolution as long as it doesn't contradicts our islamic beliefs that is in general..

*islam doesn't contradicts science , on the contrary the Quran has many scientific miracles.

    edit:Surah Al Mu'minun:

    12. And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth).

    13. Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman).

    14. Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best to create!

And we are the best of all His creations. God even told the angels to bow down to Adam:

    Surah 38: Surah Sa'ad:

    71. (Remember) your Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay:

    72. "So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him, his soul, from my Spirit, then you (angels should) fall down (and prostrate) in respect for him."

I can definitely answer 'no' to your last question. Since when does religion concern itself with science? (except to destroy it)

Scientific miracles? That's a new one! LOL!
