I need some help with overclocking a pc if you guys could help me that'd be great.. details below:?
I want to overclock my pc which is a custom built pc.. i built it myself a summer ago but now it doesn't feel so fast anymore so i wanna overclock it.. I've a AMD athlon 64 3700 processor and the standard heatsink that comes with it. I've 512 ram on it and windows XP.. the AMD works wonders on games and game graphics but if it worked a lil faster would be great.. right now it runs at bout 2.3 ghz.. i was thinkin if i could push like 2.6 or so on it.. any suggestions would be great.. also how do u overclock ram?? again any suggestions r appreciated.. thanx guys..

try getting more ram, first. you only have 512. that's kind of low for gaming. increasing your cpu speed will not give you more speed as much as increasing ram. once your ram runs out, your os has to use your hard drive which is much much slower.
as for overclocking, you'll need a better fans (both cpu and case), for one, and you'll risk frying your board/cpu. depending on your socket (I'm going to guess socket 939 or am2), you can get much faster cpu for less than 100. the better fan will cost you at least half that, so getting a faster cpu or more ram would sound more reasonable.
as for overclocking, there is a program that can overclock your machine for you. i suggest checking this site out for all of the programs that can help you overclock
