Does it make sense?

Here in the Israel section, one Tabatha continues to badmouth me, but because she has blocked me, I have no opportunity even to see her "questions," let alone respond to them.

This is an upside down world.

Let me just say that her words about me are unfounded.

In any event, we can learn something about Arab-Jewish relations from the following.

there was a massacre of the Jewish community in Basra in 1776 (in what is now southern Iraq). And one of the most historically important instances of anti-Jewish violence of the nineteenth century occurred in Damascus (now the capital of Syria) in 1840.

Arab violence against Jews has been going on long before there was an occupation, long before there was a refugee problem--indeed, long before there was a political Zionist movement. Need I present more painful examples? Perhaps even further back, where I hope everyone will agree that the Zionist movement did not yet come into being:

(Cont'd.)

Update:

In the centuries after Muhammad there have been periods when the Jews were able to live in relative peace under Arabs, but their position was never secure. They were generally viewed with contempt by their Arab neighbors, and their survival was always predicated on their abject subordination and degradation to them. Mass murders of Jewish "protected people" started in Morocco as early as the eighth century, where Idris I wiped out whole communities. A century later Baghdad's Caliph al-Mutawakkil designated a yellow badge for Jews (setting a precedent that would be followed centuries later in Nazi Germany), and synagogues were destroyed throughout Mesopotamia in 854-859. In Tripolitania, Jews were considered the property of their Arab masters, who would bequeath the Jews to their heirs upon death. In the 12th century, after anti-Jewish riots, the contemporaries commented that their population had 'greatly declined.' ( Middle East Digest, September 1999)

Update 2:

In 1465, Arab mobs in Fez slaughtered thousands of Jews, leaving only 11 of them alive, after a Jewish deputy vizier allegedly treated a Muslim woman in "an offensive manner." The killings touched off a wave of similar massacres throughout Morocco. (Maurice Roumani: The Case of the Jews from Arab Countries: A Neglected Issue, Tel Aviv: World Organization of Jews from Arab Countries, 1977, pp. 26-27.)

In Tripolitania in 1785, Ali Burzi Pasha murdered hundreds of Jews. In Algiers, Jews were massacred in 1805, 1815 and 1830; and in Marrakesh more than 300 Jews were murdered between 1864 and 1880. Decrees ordering the destruction of synagogues were enacted in Egypt and Syria (1014, 1293, 1301) and Yemen (1676). Despite the Qur'an's alleged prohibition, Jews were forced to convert to Islam or face death in Yemen (1165 and 1678), Morocco (1275, 1465 and 1790-92), and Baghdad (1333 and 1344). ( Bat Ye'or: The Dhimmi. Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 1985)

Update 3:

I was wondering what sort of Jewish education this Tabatha had, to make her the expert she claims to be. She righly notes that I have no information, other than my impressions.

Tabatha, how many years have you spent studying gemara? Midrash? Moreh nevukhim? The Magen Avraham? The Kuzari? Mesilat Yesharim? Mishna Berura? Dinei mamonot? Hafetz Hayyim? Midrash (halkhic and aggadic)?

Can you read, speak and write Hebrew? Aramaic? Yiddish? Ladino? Arabic?

If you reply to this (and I have my doubts), then I can understand where you are coming form, and how much you really know.

.

Update 4:

MS Afwat asks why I chose to write about Arab anti-Jewish actions over the years, while the Christians have a 2000-year history of anti-Semitism.

The answer is that the uninfommed tend to think that the Arab hatred of Jews only began when Israel was re-established as a Jewish state in 1948. However, Islam has centuries of persecution and hatred of their Jews, and the Yahoo Answers participants should be aware of this.

This does not absolve Christianity of its guilt, of course.

.

Update 5:

Tabatha finally admis that she lacks any Jewish education. Not exactly a surprise.

So I cannot understand why she thinks she can express opinions on things she does not understand. Would she give her opinions here on nuclear physics? Or ancient Chinese art?

We need more Jews who question their identity and favor Arabs' desires over Jews'.

With their help, we will be able to win without firing a shot.

I have to agree with EU Citizen.

Throughout history Jews have been persecuted by all kind of people for some reason or the other, Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians (ie ancient Iraqi civilization), Romans, Christians, Europeans, Nazis etc... and frankly speaking, noting the frequency of intolerance against jews from ancient times, I would say that there might be something wrong with the Jews themselves that attract such reaction from the others. Does the overstressed and rage filled rhetoric of people like yourself have anything to do with this? (Maybe we could discuss this later)

Compared to all of the above I guess the historical position of Jews under moslem rule, although not perfect using todays standards, was one of the best deals they ever got.

So why do you single out the negative aspects of this historical era blowing it out of proportions? Are you just being paranoid, driven by hatred or you are just another screw doing its job (whether knowingly or not) in the bigger Zionist propaganda machinery with darker motives?

  • All I can say is, if someone blocks you, then return the favor by blocking them. I personally haven't blocked anyone and haven't been blocked, but that is what I would do if I get blocked by a user from Yahoo answers.

I agree with you, right after the Birth of the State of Israel, all the sorrounding Arab countries piled up against Israel.

    1 - I have not badmouthed you

2 - I blocked you because you were insulting

3 - You have continued to insult me

4 - If you would like to respond to my posts, you are very welcome - I will be happy to get rid of the block, if you will stop insulting me, and stop accusing me of not being a good Jew, which is an absurd thing to say to someone you don't know!

    Fair?!

    EDIT TO IVRI

Firstly, when did I claim to be an 'expert'??? I never did. I am just like everyone else, venturing an opinion. I was not aware that I had to have certain qualifications in order to do this...!

By implication, you clearly feel that you, however, are an expert. On which authority do you demand me to 'prove' the extent of my knowledge of my religion? Is this something you will be demanding of all Jews in this section, then? If not, why are you asking me??? To reiterate: I never claimed nor implied to be any kind of 'expert' on anything. Are you suggesting that only 'experts' who meet your criteria should be answering? You seem to be suggesting precisely that.

I am at a total loss, frankly, to understand why you keep challenging me; why can't you just enjoy this forum like the rest of us? If you don't like my posts, that's your right. But it is not your right to demand that I somehow qualify my 'Jewishness'.

You are correct. The peace between Jews and Muslims prior to Zionism is a myth.

Actually all I can say is that those that know G-d, whether they be Jew or Christian understand what the problem is in the Middle East.

    Those that don't know G-d, don't care.

There was alsoa little thing called the Holocaust it happend in Europe where people where rounded up like cattle and gassed hmm is this not worse then anything happend in the middle east?

lol the middle east is not the only place where jews had it hard.

There are always two sides of a story you only show one because of your obvious biasis.
