Day care question (may not be what you think)?
Okay, so after 5 years of being a dog groomer, I became a stay at home Mommy after I had my son last year, and I absolutley love it. However, I do miss being able to contribute (financially) to my family. But I wont leave my son at a day care center (nothing against people who use day care, Im just not comfortable with it). Today, a friend of mine told me that she thinks some day care places allow you to work there and bring your child with you.... this sounds too good to be true! I could bring in money, and still have my son with me all day? Does anyone do this? And are there any special qualifications you need to work at a childcare facility?
Just wanted to add that Im in New Jersey

my 3's teacher has a child at my daycare. as a matter of fact, she's in my 2's class! i love workers with "mommy" experience. qualifications will vary from state to state and daycare to daycare. the arrangement works well for me. i have an experienced worker and a very well behaved child! i offer free childcare to my employees, but this, too, varies. bravo to you for wanting to care for others' children. it takes a very special person with lots of love and patience. good luck and thanks for considering being a childcare provider! they are hard to come by!

I don't know about where you live at but here, there are alot of ads in the paper advertising help wanted for childcare facilities and some even allow free care to one child. Also, I would check out the hospitals and such that have day-cares inside of their facility, the reason being they usually pay better and have better benefits and hours. But, be aware that you won't be able to watch your own child all the time, but at least you would be close by and have the ability to constantly see what is going on. For most places, the only qualifications you have to have is a CPR/First Aid Card. And most places, especially like hospitals, will pay for this class and have you take it after you are hired but before you start working.
This is a great idea and is what I want to do also after I have my baby. Good luck!

your friend was right. there are some daycare that employ woman and sometimes men with young child. The sometimes offer free or reduced childcare to the employee.
some qualifications you will need to work at a childcare facility are knowledge in first aid, CPR training, early child development courses and and some even require some teaching experience or college courses in elementary education. A criminal background check will be necessary too

My friend got a job as a receptionist at her local daycare...her son was just a few feet away from her in the big room with all the other kids...she could check on him whenever she wanted and he knew she was nearby.

As others have said, you could do that but in all likelihood he would not be in the same room as you. At our daughter's first daycare the teacher's daughter was in the same class and guess who the teacher was paying the most attention to every time we went in there? We yanked her out pretty quick.

One of the "teachers" at my son's school does this. This is possible, however, your child would not be in YOUR room. You need to check with the centers in your area to see what qualifications they require.
