Is there any way to "clean out" your lungs?
Odd question, yes. But I'm quitting smoking (from just less than one year of smoking) cold turkey, and I just.. can't take this anymore, I'm suffocating with my every breath. Is there any way to make my lungs clean again?

Try to avoid any unnatural odors; perfumes, house cleaning products, fireplaces &, of course 2nd hand smoke. Drink lots of water. Do some walking & do it slow if it makes you short of breath.
You could probably benefit with some inhalers to open up your airways but you'd have to get a prescription for those. Have you heard the term,
'pursed lip breathing?'...Inhale slowly (to a slow count of 3) then purse your lips as if you are going to kiss or whistle then exhale (to a slow count of 3). This helps get rid of carbon & strengthens the lungs & muscles a bit. Do that procedure a lot...everytime you think about it.
If you've only smoked for a year then hopefully you haven't caused any real lung damage.
GOOD FOR YOU. I wish you well.

Vegetable smoithies every morning and drink water with every meal. Your lungs will get cleaned out in no time. Your making a very responsible decision for your life. I honor and respect people like you. I've been trying to get my mom to quit for years. I just recently told her that if she doesn't quit, I don't want her around me at all.

I read that in 2 years after quit somoking your lungs are something as 60 % cleaner than before and 5 years after are totally clean. But surelly, and neumologist can tell you exactly.
Good luck, and you did the best decision!!!!.

Not really...only time can help you. There is something called a therapeutic bronchoscopy that the knock you out, and flush out your lungs...buts its usually done on people who are intubated (breathing tube on a ventilator) and are really sick. Warm showers and maybe a decongestant could help for short periods of time. PS..>Congrats on quitting smoking!!
