How can I get rid of nutsedge in my veggie garden? Roundup is only a temporary setback for it.?

Remember the old adage- "One years seeding brings seven years weeding."
Nutsedge can spread by roots but mainly by seeds. Pulling and mulching is the best way to go.
This applies to all weed control. We haven't found anything that will stand up to pulling the weeds and mulching the area.
The best way to keep weeds down is to spend a couple of minutes each day keeping them at bay, rather than waiting until the over run the garden and the problem seems insurmountable.

If it's only a temporary setback from roundup applied according to label instructions, and you've got lots, you might consider solarizing your garden.
Otherwise, the best solution that I've found is to hand-treat the leaves with roundup (put on nitrile gloves and a cotton glove over that; moisten thumb and forefinger of cotton glove with roundup and draw each leaf between thumb and forefinger.
I can usually get 90% control in one application; three to eliminate all but the very worst stands.

Nutsedge will grow through any mulch, even black plastic. Repeat applications of Roundup will kill it eventually, be persistent. The nutsedge has small nuts on the rootsystem which sprout after a shoot is killed. My grandfather (before Roundup) used to say that the only way to get rid of nutsedge was to move :) .

There is a product called "Manage" that works very well. You may need to apply it twice, but it will get the job done. I have found pulling nutsedge only worsens the problem, and round-up only sets them back. If any of the nutsedge has gone to seed, I would remove as much of the seed as I could.

RoundUp goes thru the leaves, down the stem, and into the roots to kill the whole plant.
If more plants grow in the same spot, it is from seed that has fallen from the plant. Keep after it and you will win.

Hello.
Nutsedge is very easy to pull or dig out. It has a rooting system similar to an onion. I pull out nutsedge.
Toxic chemicals are not the best way to handle weeds.
I sincerely hope this helps you.
