Undocumented paying taxes and our governments unwillingness- or incompetence - to help?

Illegal aliens pay in taxes every year. They work through a (fake or borrowed or stolen social) and then, at the end of the year, they file taxes through an ITIN. I assist several people in my area with these taxes, and, we staple the W2 Form to the state & federal returns, and mail it.

My question is this: Every year the government receives the W2s which have the ITIN (and the person's REAL information), and, attached to it they receive the W2 which has the social security number of the person whose name they are working under. IF our government wanted to stop any of the undocumented, or to warn people whose socials have been stolen, wouldn't they do so? They are given this information. I don't know of any illegal that has ever even gotten a letter, or a call, or anything about this. What do you think? Does our government simply not care? Or are they so incompetent they cant figure it out?

All about ITINS:

Update:

You taught me something new Astucias. Thanks. I didn't know that.

Update 2:

SOME pay taxes. SOME don't. And, I do social work. If I am helping with taxes, I help with taxes and make no moral comments on peoples lives.

Austucia got that right.....and by the way, only SOME illegals pay taxes...your statement doesnt imply that...

Yak Rider- what you said is exactly what goes on...

EDIT- People, having an ITIN # is not illegal...

You missed the news report on this then because the head of the IRS said this himself. "We do not care if they are legal, or illegal. We do not care how they made their money. Legally, or illegally as long as they pay us the taxes owed. And we are not under any obligation to tell Immigration Agencies that we are accepting and taking in the taxes the illegals file on."

But here is how I feel about the whole issue. If they have ridden on the backs of other peoples SSN's, and other false information. As far as I'm concerned they can and should lose out on all that money taken out plus what they also had to pay in addition without the refunds or per child credit, for using the false information in the first place. And then turning around and filing with all the proper paperwork. And those of us that they used our identities should benefit it from them for the inconvenience they decided to cause us.

And you may disagree with me. But let me ask you this. Is that the way you'd live, and go about your life?

Illegal aliens pay in taxes every year. They work through a (fake or borrowed or stolen social) and then, at the end of the year, they file taxes through an ITIN how do you know the ITIN is not fake or borrowed or stolen or shared with other illegals ?

Anyone visiting the USA and all of its residents, enjoy government benefits. However, they all pay taxes of some sort. Tourists pay taxes on lodging, transportation, gifts, etc; undocumented pay taxes on gas, logding, etc. However, legal tax paying residents pay the most but also recieve more benefits. The big one people claim is healthcare, emergency services and it is a big one, but then again there are plenty of legal residents who either do not have insurance, homeless, or just dont pay taxes who recieve these benefits as well (ie. Wesely Snipes). I think he anti-illegal immigration forces have an argument, but they are not being fair in stating that illegal aliens pay zero taxes.

they do get "no match letters"but most numbers stolen for this purpose are that of the dead. the govt is not fixing this half of the problem because they do not have to return any of the money paid in taxes especialy if they "accidently" take too much out of the check(no tax refunds for these people that money really really adds up). the govt knows exactly what is going on, the people however do not, many misunderstand the situation or fall into the hands of some bad information, causeing them to be angry with the illegals and not with the govt. which works realy well for the govt. there are many new laws reguarding this and alot of people who actualy have caught on to this are trying to change it so the laws keep bouncing back and forth up and down...etc

Source(s): it is all about the money, it is like you donateing any tax refunds to the usa govt without asking where it is going.

For what I know the information is not shared between agencies. However if it was maybe these illegals would be caught and removed, you may be helping them with their taxes but they are using a stolen SSN. How would you feel if that stolen SSN was yours or may be your child's?

It may be just a series of numbers on a piece of paper. But someone somewhere in the USA is using that number for real.

The thing is, the government realizes what most people don't believe, our economy would crumble if they actually deported everyone that is here illegally. The problem is, all the people in the red states not understanding the situation. Here's something new, a new idea: American businesses who need cheap labor, should hire people for six month periods. They should have them all checked out at a clinic. Any injuries that occur while working are covered by the employer. The workers are also given food and shelter. We could give the businesses a break on all the other taxes for those workers, no SUTA, no FUTA, no Soc. Sec., etc. After six months, the workers are taken home, with as much of their wages as they can save, and go and stimulate economic growth in Mexico. Real economic growth for Mexico, not this Nafta crap...Rich Americans and Corporations, who are so greedy they are willing to sell out all of their American employees to move to Mexico so they can get richer. It really makes me sick, and now when I look back to when I used to work with a couple of illegals, who spoke no English, I understand why Whenever they Heard Vicente Fox's name they would yell "Bandito." He's a pawn of corporate America.

True - the SSA doesn't share info except possibly with the Census Bureau who in turn doesn't share it with anyone else except in statistical form. These illegals have phony SSNO's and addresses and very rarely own property (or pay taxes unless it's deducted) so it would be difficult for ICE to track them down even if SSA did share with ICE. ICE would know what company they worked for but then what? Most of these people are transient and would be long gone. So --- the incompetence belongs to Congress due to its unwillingness to crack down on illegal immigration. The reason - political expediency.

No doubt our government should revamp their no match list, but you acted as if the illegals using fake, borrowed or stolen social is not only amusing but okay to do, sounds like you are aiding and abiding those who are breaking our laws. Do these illegals use their real address. If they were robbing the bank, would you help them count the money

the government doesn't care if our ssn has been stolen. If they did they'd make some law to protect us and when we give them the person steeling our ssn or identity they have the police take a report and the DA procecute.

But they don't because it's not their ssn's so..................
