Processing in the Philippines is ever since very slow. Or they will only process things if something bad will happen to consumers and sensationalized by the media.

Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) was banned in the US because it was used as diet pills. As diet pill, dose of the drug is way beyond its effective dose as nasal decongestant. Hence, severe and adverse side effects were observed. Here in the Philippines, phenylpropanolamine is being used as treatment for nasal congestion. The dose of the drug is way below the concentration required for it to produce its adverse side effect. As the benefit of using PPA outweighs its risk, we still continue to use it here.

the BFAD will only act upon it if there's a formal complaint filed and knowing how the bureaucratic system works here in our country, we shouldn't hope for immediate action/results..once a complaint is filed, the legal aspect is even longer and that's where the real battle begins because the involved parties have to make some damage control and rigorously defend their actions--- unfortunately at the expense of filipino consumers :(
