Not sure the exact location or weight of the catch but I beleive it was a 6 pounder

Update:

I wish that was my hand in its mouth Fishsteelhead. I would be in a magazine if it was lol.

I beleive the perch was caught in Germany I cannot beleive its size . My biggest perch was 14 inches . I wish we had them here in FL they sure are good eating . I caught some about a month ago in NC they were all about 12 inch average and great on the grill

Perca fluviatilis-European Perch (In some areas it is known as the redfin perch or English perch).

European perch are greenish with red pelvic, anal, and caudal fins. They have 5-9 dark vertical bars on their sides.

European perch size can vary greatly between bodies of water; in Australia the fish are sometimes much larger than in their native Europe. The perch can live for up to 22 years, and older perch are often much larger than average; the maximum recorded length is 20 inches (51 cm) and the largest recorded weight is 10.4 lbs (4.75 kg).

Because of their similar appearance and ability to cross-breed, the yellow perch has sometimes been classified as a subspecies of the European perch, in which case its trinomial name would be Perca fluviatilis flavescens.

I do believe Exert is correct once again. I have caught literally thousands of yellow perch here in VT, and although the pic seems to be a yellow perch, something is not quite right. I think it is all of the fins being red, I'm not sure. After a few minutes of research, and finding out that "barsch" means "perch" in German, I must agree with Exert's answer. The record European perch is somewhere around 10 pounds, I think, don't quote me!

Hey Brandon, catching 12" yellow perch this summer is awesome. Here in VT, we usually only find them that big during the winter, ice fishing. (No one can find the hogs during the summer for some reason). I am happy to catch half pounders at the moment.

Thanks for sharing an interesting fishing pic.

Good luck your next time out, and catch LOTS :-)

    EDIT:

Oh yeah, Injun, your 2 pounder WAS big, almost as big as the state record in VT.

Well that's huge for sure, but there's no way that big old thing tastes as good as the little ones that I fry up 10 at a time. A lot less work cleaning to get the same amount of meat though!!

MMMM... I should go get some more perch this weekend! My limit here is 50, but the question is how many do I have the patience to fillet?

    Wow monster PERCH!

To many vertical lines for a Peacock Bass, and not enough color.

yea i believe that is a perch, the vertical black lines and reddish fins give it away...but like the guy said above me if you can lip one like largemouth bass, you got yourself a hog!!!

If it was a peacock, the majority of his underbody would be red as well.

That photo appears to be a Giant Peacock Bass, found only in the Amazon River. The world record is 27 pounds.
