Love to fish and hunt! I'm 39, married, and have a son, daughter and grandson. Lived on an island on Lake Champlain (fishing paradise) in northern Vermont for a year and a half before moving back to Southeastern PA. I love animals, have dogs (2 Labs and a Golden), a big fat cat, and an Arabian / QH Paint gelding. Own and operate a lawn / landscaping company for 17 years now. My son kept it going while we were in VT, and now the three of us will be working it together. :-)

  • Has anyone been flounder fishing in Jersey yet this year? Any keepers? Where did you go?

Size limit is up to 18"! Ouch!

We havent been in a couple of years. We are familiar with the Sea Isle City back bays, but the last few times there have only caught throwbacks. A friend had great sucess in Sandy Hook a few years ago, but I am not familiar with that part of Jersey.

Would be willing to try a new a place if there is a better chance of catching keepers. We have an 18' bayliner, so would only fish bays or inlets, not rough water.

    Thanks!

    :-)

  • How much more do you think a new 2008 F350 is worth than a new 2006 F350. Same truck, mileage and warranty?

We are going to be buying one of the two. They are identical trucks with the exception of one being 2 years older. (Ford F350 DRW with a 9ft dump bed). One dealer has a 2006 leftover, so we would still get the full warranty since it has never been titled to anyone. They are offering it for $3500 less than the 2008. I am trying to figure out how much more the 2008 is worth, just for having a later mfg date. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • How is (saltwater) fishing in Florida right now?

I'll have 4 days on the Atlantic coast, near Melbourne. We went around the same time last year, and had a lot of fun. Surf fishing, catching blues and whiting, I liked the best . We also have access to a boat for fishing in the Indian River, near Sebastian's Inlet. We caught a bigger variety of fish there, but nothing real big, and 4 out of 5 were little mutton snappers. Blues are so fun to fight, and they were non-stop. I'll probably go out in the boat one day, and spend the rest of the time on the beach.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Has anyone out there joined the North American Fishing Club? Is the membership worth it?

For only $1 per month, the free gifts and other offers sound good, but I am not sure about having to pay for 3 years of membership in advance to get them. They offer a refund if not satisfied, but that would be a hassle, I'm sure.

Are the magazines any good? Do they really send gear out for you to use and keep as long as you rate it? Any info about them would be appreciated. Thanks :-)

  • I just moved and cannot get DSL or cable for internet service. Are there any other options out there?

I am cringing at going back to dial-up. I don't have time to search the internet because the library I'm at has a time limit.

I don't know when my next chance to be online will be, but will try to check your answers in a day or two.

  • Do you think this is fair?

On 8/13/06 I was stopped by a game warden and he asked to see my fishing license. I had forgotten to bring it with me, & was issued a warning & asked to mail a copy to him within 5 days which I did, end of that story. Since I do not carry a purse or wallet on the boats, I tried leaving my license in the boat, so I wouldn't forget it again. However, we have 2 different boats that we fish from. So, I put my NY non-resident license, which is valid in MOST parts of the lake, in one boat, and my VT resident license in the other. On 8/9/07, I was stopped again by a different warden. This time I had my NY license handy, BUT, was in one of the few places that it was not valid. The warden asked that I send a copy of my VT license to him within 5 days, which I did. About 2 weeks later, I got a notice in the mail saying that I was to be fined $171.00 AND 5 points put on my DRIVER'S license for not carrying my license while fishing, twice within a one year period????

  • 360 messages not working?

One of my friends sent me (and a lot of his other friends) a JibJab video through a 360 message. Now my mail is messed up. As far as I can tell, everyone who he sent the message to is having the same problem. It is impossible to delete the video, and all messages prior to the video cannot be previewed or seen. I am receiving messages since the video, but they cannot be deleted either. Any suggestions?

  • Quick answers needed! I need to cook him tonight!?

A friend brought us a 10 pound Maine lobster. I don't want to take the chance of him dying prior to cooking, so I would like to get it done tonight. The water is getting ready to boil, but I have never cooked one this big. I will be boiling, not steaming. How long?

  • I need some creative ideas on what to do with a LOT of carrots.?

Okay, so I went a little wild when planting them in the spring. It's been so long since I have had time to garden. Now I have more than what I know what to do with, and I hate to waste. I have already given away pounds and pounds to neighbors, stored some in buckets of sand for the winter, frozen enough to take up too much room in the freezer, and have had my fill of carrot cake. Any other suggestions?

  • Do you know of a good mutual fund screener?

The best so far I have found is yahoo's (believe it or not). But there are still options I want that it doesn't have. I would like to look for multiple categories at one time (i.e. mid-cap growth, AND natural resources). I don't know if this is possible, but anything to narrow my searches would help. Even if I could do a secondary search of my primary search results. There are SO many to choose from. Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

  • Crappie tips?

Now I know where the crappie are, but the trick is to catch them. We are fishing a river, only about 50 feet wide, but very deep (20 feet in the channel) with steep banks. There are dozens of fallen trees, perfect cover for the crapppie. Everything we learned about fishing for them in the lake is no longer valid. Basically, you have to anchor the boat at the end of a fallen tree, and use a long rod to drop bait in between the branches. (Lots of lost jigs).

I am looking for opinions on favorite shape, size and color of the jigs, along with favorite baits. Live bait (we use fatheads) or plastics? Tubes or panfish assasins? Any and all comments are welcome!

Caught about 10 crappie today, some pounders, and I am happy, but I WANT TO CATCH MY LIMIT!

  • WOW you guys, Yahoo is really being screwy.?

I did not believe Steelhead (I am sorry hunny) when he said that he saw Brandon as the top contributor for fishing just the other day. Brandon has not been on for months. But I just hopped on, and low and behold, Brandon is the top fishing contributor. EXERT what are you doing???? Slipping???? To all of my fishing buddies who lost their badges: You are all great, and I don't give a hoot what yahoo says..... and injun, here is your hug.... *HUGZ*. Yes, I am being silly, so my question is: Is Yahoo screwed up, or is it me? (Ahhhh... maybe I really don't want to hear your answers :-) )

  • Have you ever caught a bass this size?

Caught this one beneath a waterfall in the Ausable River. What a fighter! I was actually fishing for trout with a #6 hook rigged with a trout worm. Hahahahahahaha.

  • Has anyone ever fished a lake at the same time bass pros were fishing it? Were they polite?

Please feel free to comment even if your answer was no. Most of the guys that we encountered were polite, and respected our "personal fishing space", but 2 of them were quite rude. I wish I knew what names went with which boats, because I would have cast the "northern pike" spell on them, LOL. "May you catch nothing but northerns, and may they rip every single one of your favorite lures". haha

Okay, we were fishing next to a bridge, and they all had to come thru to go weigh in or whatever, and it's okay that they passed close to us, because we were fishing in the channel. Most waited until they were past us and the other boats until hitting the throttle, but 2 of them didn't care, and were what I would consider extremely rude. Here are 2 links. One pic of the rude guys, he is just hitting the throttle, and the guy in the background in a white tank is another boat, see how close they were? The other link is on how the tourney is going.

  • I became a top contributor and didn't want to be? Is there any way to get rid of this "status"?

I stopped answering so much, so I wouldn't have this problem, but it didn't help. What should I do? Should I just not answer any questionsfor a while, and then they will remove me? I'm not here for points and stuff, I just like to help people.

  • Tips on Walleye fishing?

I have my own favorite ways, but would like to hear other opinions. They're catching them off my island right now, I know the general area, but not exactly.

There is a steep drop-off in one area, goes down to 80 feet less than 50 yards offshore, but are also a lot of shoals in that area. There is an old railroad bed, that separates the deep water from a relatively shallow bay (15 feet), the channel going into the bay is about 30 feet deep. Where would you start?

What's your favorite bait / lure? Some of my best luck has been on a whole crawler threaded on a plain hook, and I like Erie Dearies too, but I've never caught a monster like the ones I'm hearing about.

    Drift, troll or anchor?

I do have a fishfinder, but there are so many fish in this lake, it always shows fish.

I think we're going to try on Sunday, if it's not too sunny and calm. If it is, we'll go looking for the elusive crappies.

Thanks in advance for your advice! Hope you get to go fishing this weekend!
