Has anyone been out ice fishing yet this season? If not, when do you expect to?

Details are welcome. Method? Species? Gear? Weather?

Update:

Ace: You have no idea what you're missing :-)

Winterrules: Good job! Thanks for the details!

Craig: Good luck to you on Wednesday.

Gilbert: Not a whole lot happening this side of the border yet. Most of the good perch spots are not safe ice yet.

Goldenfeather: LOL :-) However, I no longer have fishingitis since I have been able to get out on the ice. I hope the winter is milder. Usually here it's sub-zero in Jan and Feb, so mild would be teens or twenties which would be NICE!

Exert: GREAT links, thank you :-) :-)

S_M_C: YAY! You finally got out there! Felt good didn't it? Being brutalized by wind, snow and freezing temps, (just wait until Feb, lol), but at least catching some fish. Portable shelters are a P.I.T.A., but sometimes they're worth the trouble.

Cowboy: Sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to catch some big 'eyes, but we don't have many around here. GOOD LUCK!

    Alright, alright!

I FINALLY went Tues. Caught some bluegill & 1 small Northern! Ice was about 8-10" thick.

It was so dang COLD I couldn't concentrate on fishing! (Like a dumb-@ss I decided to NOT bring the portable house and just "tough it out". I'm gettin too old to freeze my @ss off catching 6-8" 'Gils! lol)

I must admit, even though it was so cold I thought my fingers would "turn black" it was still exhilarating!

'Course I wouldn't turn down a plane ticket to the Keys right about now! (lol)

I have been out three times. The first time this year was Nov. 30. That say I caught brook trout, yellow perch and catfish. The other times I was targeting white perch. Some were caught with traps and live shiners. The rest were caught on a jig pole with a swedish pimple tipped with a small piece of earthworm. Plenty of ice here in Maine.

After the New Years "Shiver on the river starts" or the ice fishing of the year on the Saginaw river. They usually catch some good Walleyes out there, Lot's in the 12 pound class.

    Saginaw, Michigan.

I have not, and if it gets cold enough for the water to freeze here in S. Central Kentucky I will not be fishing anyway. :))

Water is ment to be floated upon, not walked or driven upon.ROALMAO.

And by NOAA's long range forecast if you do get to go, it will probably be a short season.....warmer than normal temps this winter for almost the entire USA...except the extreme northern regions....not what a gal with "fishingitish" wants hear I know.

My bass pond had almost 1 inch of ice for 2 days...I didn't want to risk falling through. Like Golden Feather, I don't do much 'hardwater' fishing. I understand how frustrating waiting for proper conditions can be so here's a link with a few ideas to occupy your fishing sickness and hopefully get the monkey off your back for a few minutes:
