men do you consider a wrist watch in the same way as a bracelet?

I noticed in the previous question about necklaces etc, that most Egyptian men say they wouldn’t wear jewellery, I agree I think it looks awful on men, but does that extend to watches. I ask because I noticed many men don’t wear watches in Egypt.

Update:

ruby, thank you yes i knew muslim men were not supposed to gold, but i wasnt sure about the status of watches.

zoser, my husband is the same he loves watches, especailly the old fashioned type, i bought him one for our 25th wedding anniversary and he loves it becuase the second hand sweeps and not ticks..........i cant understand the fascination myself. he also loves pocket watches. personally i dont like expensive wathces i have never spent more than £30 on a watch.

OMG , I adore watches, Watches are considered big boys toys, I like to collect watches, those old style winding watches. Automatic, tourbillon genuine watches, that is a hobby and also an investment.. , (good precious watch for a man , is like a precious piece of jewelry for a woman)…why you do not see some Egyptians wearing a watch or a precious watch,, economic reasons of course….(zenith defy tourbillion is LE500000- Patek Philippe automatic watch starts from LE200000, Audemars Piguet starts LE80000)

(those are not even Gold,,,,,,nor with any stones , just plane watches)

edit: Yes automatic watches and winding watch would have the second hand sweeps nt ticking as in quartz watches, those are the old but still beautiful machines , Manufacturing a watch is very delicate especially those kind of watches, we are amazed by that, each Patek Philippe watch is completely made part by part and assembled by one engineer (only one person ) , that is why it is unique and precious,,

BTW: A good watch is not only to be worn, it is a very Profitable Investment

Source(s): moonrise:Stones in watches or Gold do not give a value to watches , they represent a very small value of the price of watches, The prices depend on the machine inside them,,

This is an interesting question and, for me, I believe we might but maybe at a higher level because watches could and have been used as a status symbol. It's the brand name. It's metal band versus leather or some exotic animal's skin. It's about the function. It's about how old the is the watch. It's about the country of origin. There is much more.

I think watches are becoming less and less common among men because everyone has a mobile phone in their pocket. Why wear a watch when you can check the time simply by looking at your phone?

It's just one less thing to worry about.

No Sabrina, it is perfectly fine for men to wear wrist watches

    Edit:

but not gold ones as gold isn't allowed for Muslim men to wear. Gold is only for women yehahahha

egyptian men wear all kinds of watches.

but their class defines their choice.

only rich men of low origin would wear watches that glitter with bright stones .

I love watches. Yes it's not only a time machine, it has to look good, and say something about me.
