Dishwasher got regular dish soap - now messed up!?
A friend put some regular dish soap into my dishwasher and now the thing is over sudding. I took all the dishes out and cleaned them, but there is still a resovior of water that is very soap rich and I am having a hard time draining that water (I did as best as I can manually and its not draining anymore on its own - but what is left has alot of the regular dish soap in there).
Is there any "home-made" remedy to de-sud the soapy water? I thought of the solutions made for hot tubs, carpet cleaning, etc - but is there any home remedy that would work? I tried salt - didnt make a difference. Anyone with any ideas on what to do? Anytime I turn the dishwasher on - it just starts to mix with the soapy water (even tho there isnt that much left).

Take out the dish racks and dishes. Wash them by hand.
Scoop out as much of the overflow suds as you can. Grab a towel and sop up any excess water pooled at the bottom.
Put a cup (or two) of white vinegar in the dishwasher. Adding ice will lower the water temperature and inhibit the sudsing action. Run it for a full cycle.
Repeat if needed.

Don't do it!! Regular dish detergents are made to foam up. Putting them in your dishwasher will create more suds than it will be able to handle. If you're out of dishwasher soap, use laundry soap as a substitute. It has the cleaning action but not the foaming action.

Fabric softener is a desudsing agent. It is alot cheaper than the carpet cleaning desudser and it only takes alittle to do the trick. My ex tried to use Dawn in the dishwasher and bubbles flooded my kitchen. I used about a tablespoon of snuggle in the dishwasher and the suds were gone.

I've never done this, but I would think that if you turned off the water supply to the dishwasher and then ran it, the dishwasher would use whatever water was in the line and reservoir. After a cycle, you could turn the water back on and run it on a rinse cycle only. Good luck.
