Pokemon EVs and sharing experience without exp. share?

I understand that Pokemon equipped with an exp. share are going to obtain the same amount of EVs as the lead pokemon. My question is this: What about Pokemon who are just simply involved in that combat? Do they gain the same amount of EVs?

    yes because in order for a pokemon EV they most gain Exp
