St. Michael the archangel,defend us in battle;be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil>May God rebuke him,we humbly pray,and do thou,O Prince of the heavenly host,by the power of God,cast into hell,Satan, and all the other evil spirits,who roal throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.Amen

This is how I understand it to mean. 
It is a prayer of protection, asking Archangel Michael to come to our rescue and defend us from evil temptations and trappings which would cause us to sin and could harm us physically and spiritually.
It also asks that God through Archangel Michael and his angels condemn the devil and his evil spirit followers of temptation, to be cast into hell.

I have no idea the translation. But I have to ask why pray to an angel when you can pray to God? Surely Jesus would be the better one to call on in times of need.
