No Braxton Hicks.. again?

I'm reposting.. sorry.. I was just hoping for a little more of a response...

How early to Braxton Hicks tend to start? And if I'm not having any at all.. is it at all an indication that I won't go into labor on my own? What exactly to they feel like? Maybe I just dont know it's happening? I heard someone say that sometimes it just feels like cramps.. no tightening or anything.. is that true? I'm going to speak with my Dr. about this at my next appointment.. I've just been thinking about this for a few days now and thought I'd ask you guys.. thanks for your time :D

I never really got them with my first two kids. If I did, they were so slight, I didn't notice or didn't recognize them. But with my third pregnancy (I am 31 weeks) they started early in the 2nd trimester and continue. Mine don't hurt so much as they are uncomfortable. Like someone blew up the ballon which is my belly. A tightening is my experience. I will say though that my body never really prepared properly for delivery with the first two. I delivered both naturally. With the first, I was 2 weeks late. I had the epidural too soon and the labor stopped progressing. I finally pushed her out when they tried to find the surgeon for a c-section. (I just made pushing faces untill she came out) My second child was induced 3 days after my due date and it took 1 and 1/2 days but I waited too long for the epidural and didn't get it. (It was the only time I cried during the whole thing, when they told me it was too late) I don't know yet how this delivery will turn out but I am 39 now and everything has being going along like it is supposed to and I have had the BH contractions for sure this time. Everyone is different and your body may be doing exactly what it is supposed to do. I don't think there is anything you can do about it until the actual delivery. I worry about the herbal solutions. I am sure some work great but some may accelerate things too fast or have some other effect you don't know about like blood pressure or bleeding. I think you should discuss it with your Dr. Good luck and enjoy your new baby.

Hi there. We'll I have gotten braxton hicks as early as 6 months along. I have heard of some women getting them earlier. Usually there a good sign your body is getting ready for game so to speak...No , you not having them does not mean you will not start labor on your own. I am 37 weeks along and I have been getting braxton hicks terribly at night. I just drin k a glass of water and I am usually fine. Here is a great website to answer some questions.I have used this site with all my kids. And I have three. and 4th on the way! Good Luck!

It doesn't feel like a cramp at all. It feels like there is a thick band tightening around your belly for a few seconds, then releasing. It doesn't hurt at all, but it does feel strange. I don't think it's a sign of you not going into labor on your own. I was having Braxton-Hicks contractions all the time and I had to be induced.

Do you ever feel your stomach get really hard over the baby? When I had Braxton Hicks I didn't feel anything with them till about the last week but before that I could feel by touch my uterus getting hard and then going back to normal. That's what they should feel like and no that doesn't mean you won't go into labor.

when you have a Braxton Hicks contraction you will feel a lot of pressure in your chest and your belly will get really tight for up to a minute. my Braxton Hicks contractions started in my 27th week (they were very weak at first) and they have continued every since (they are super strong now)

Sounds like labour deliver the clinic a choice, BH aren't very painful or steady, water wont make BH or contractions leave or be much less painful and that was once only a twist of fate ago, my daughter had very moderate interval form pains at 36 weeks and was once in labour, Good Luck

Braxton Hicks start as early as 6 weeks, but women do not usually feel them until mid-pregnancy, if they feel them at all. They are usually relatively painless, especially during mid-pregnancy. When I experience them, they feel like mild menstrual cramps. So, yes, they do feel like cramps and not tightening. You are probably having them, but just don't feel them, so don't worry about your labor!
