How do I convert a movie from avi to whatever format I need to watch it on my TV with a dvd player??
Two questions in this: what format works with a regular DVD player like on a tv?? I kno avi is just for computers so what do I convert it to?? Second off whats the best software to convert it??

winavi or convertxtodvd ... and u need a dvd burner ... also some dvd players will play divx or xvid avi files burned as data to a disk without conversion .. the player needs to be divx certtified ..

Don't buy anything...
Just use Windows Movie Maker to create a movie then burn the finished product to a DVD with your DVD burning software.
Movie Maker comes with Windows XP service pack 2 or higher. If you have Windows Media Center edition, you can burn direct to DVD from Movie Maker.

You need to get software that will burn your AVI file to a dvd. Here is just one example:

Do an internet search on "burn movies to dvd" and you'll find many others.
