Since all these feminists are all uptight about everything being equal between genders shouldn't they....?
Shouldn't they realize that according to the title of the Yahoo!Answers heading that they live under, they are not a part of the gender. No women is.
I mean, 'Gender and Women studies' what, are we no longer a human? But a race all of our own?

At university I had a similar question posed to me by a concerned young woman about why the Gender and Women's Studies department wasn't just called Gender Studies since that would encompass both genders. However, the answer is relatively simple. Gender studies is a broad term encompassing how male/male, male/female, female/male and female/female interpersonal, sociological, and cultural relationships work. Women's studies on the other hand are a sub-set of that larger group which focuses on female specific areas. Gender studies is anthropological in nature, while women's studies is more relative and willing to make judgments about the state of women in society instead of simply acknowledging "the way it is".

" ... they are not a part of the gender. No woman is." Do you know what the f' you're talking about? 'Cause this statement pretty much makes so little sense it's laughable.
The reason "Women's Studies" is still attached onto "Gender Studies" has been discussed on this forum time and time again. It is because *WOMEN'S STUDIES IS AND HISTORICALLY HAS BEEN AN ACTUAL ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE*. That means when you go to any given decent research university, you will find a department titled "Women's Studies" or "Women's and Gender Studies" or even (gasp!) "Feminist Studies."

That really depends on your interpretation of the heading and yahoos meaning - to me, its almost like legal word play sentence structure
As I read it, because Women's studies is a particular kind of study, it makes sense to seperate it from general Gender studies, so that you can have men studies, general gender studies, and the more controversial topic of women studies. I really don't think this is a big deal.

I don't want this forum to have that name. Gender Studies will work out best for everyone. You should realize that it took us a good four months to get this far — Y!A doesn't change its names all that easily.

Lucky the feminists fought for your rights or you might not have been given permission to learn to read or write let alone use a computer.

Gender and Women's studies is just redundant.
But really, should we make such a big deal over YA when there are bigger issues in the world?
