LINUX vs. Windows XP?

Im thinking about buying Windows XP home edition but I just came across a free version of LINUX . Is worth going for the $200 dollars for XP or is the Linux just as good?

I'd suggest Windows XP. Even though it costs a bit, it's still well worth it compared to linux.

    You be the judge:

    1. YouTube.com- Put- Windows Aero vs Ubuntu+Beryl<(just like it's typed here), and also look at the other videos to the right, with the slider on this page. That's the eye candy.

    2.Linux.com

    3.Ubuntu.com

    4.Beryl

5.Games are an issue right now, as most are written for windows,(hence lack of drivers), but the Linux systems are coming along quick.

6.There are thousands of FREE applications, etc. available with Linux OS'es.

7.Linux systems are made, and upgraded by professionals who have no agenda, no ulterior motive, except to be the best OS. These people have other jobs, and do not rely on software programs to make a living. The very name "Ubuntu" means Human Generiosty in African language.

If you're switching to Linux, I would suggest trying Ubuntu. It is pretty user-friendly. Linux has a large learning curve if you're coming from a Windows environment.

Also, you need to do some research to verify all of your hardware will work with linux. There is not always a driver built for linux. Some hardware manufacturers only make them for Windows.
