Early signs of multiples?
I am wondering if there are any early signs of having multiples? We found out we are preggers on the 18th (3 days before missed period) and I have been experiencing prego symptoms for about 3 and a half weeks now (long before it would show on an E.P.T.). My breasts got extremely sore VERY early and I have been nauseated along with a headache in the middle of my forehead. Also weight gain (4lbs) w/o an increase in eating. I feel like I look like a whale. I don't have twins in my family, but my husband's adopted so we don't know about him. I also have a "feeling" that we have twins, but not sure. I also "knew" I was pregnant 3 weeks ago when people and doctors were telling me that it was just PMS. haha boy were they wrong!
Oh, and I meant to mention that this pregnancy feels 100% different from that of my son's.

Early weight gain, and a higher than normal increase in hormones are a sign of multiples. What you are describing wouldn't be conclusive evidence of multiples. Unless they are identical, it is the mother who determines twins, so your husband having a family history wouldn't make a difference. The early nausea could be a sign, but it is really common for some women just to experience a lot of nausea early on even with one.
You will be able to find out when they do the first ultrasound at around 9 weeks...you may see two sacs and/or two heartbeats...
Your instincts sound really strong, so go with that, if you have a strong feeling it is twins, then you very well may have them.
either way Congratulations!!!

I had triplets 15 years ago. Actually, I really did not have an increased amount of nausea (I only threw up once during the entire pregnancy), nor did I have a quick weight gain (I lost 10 pounds in the first few months). I did, however, have to start wearing maternity pants when I was only 11 weeks along. I did not find out I was carrying more than one until an ultrasound at 17 weeks.

I actually had no idea that I was pregnant with twins until I was 4 months pregnant. I was suspicious only because my doctor told me I was only 16 weeks and measuring 22 weeks already. My symptoms didn't start until my 3rd month when my belly was growing quickly and my morning sickness was insane, I couldn't keep anything down for about a month. I don't really have twins in my family, just one of my great aunts had twins, thats about it. My husband had a feeling all along though, he kept telling me he really wanted twins, out of nowhere. I kept telling him, theres no way we're having twins, dont get your hopes up. Next thing you know, we're stocking up on diapers for two!

Sounds like you're having a girl! I thought I was having twins too, with symptoms just like yours, but there's a lot of twins in my family. I just had the one girl, but it was So different than my next pregnancy with a boy. Good luck, I wish you find out soon!

Not particularly no. My sister used to be pregnant with twins a couple of years in the past and she or he had the entire "traditional" signs. The most effective option to recognise if you're having twins is in case you get blood exams they usually come again with abnormally prime Hcg stages OR you get an ultrasound.

While HCG levels are higher in multiples and they can sometimes have more nausea, the definitive diagnosis is an ultrasound. Sounds like you are too early for one at this time so we'll just have to wait and see. Good Luck!!!

Symptoms are normally slightly exaggerated. More likely to get bad morning sickness (due to higher levels of HcG), tired and achy and you'll notice your hard uterus lump a little sooner than most. I don't have twins, but I was so sick with this little one I almost swore it had to be lol. Good luck!
