do u choose the Best Answer for your question, or do u leave it to go into voting ?

i've always wondered why some people on Yahoo Answers leave their questions to go to the vote. if i ask a question, i always choose the winning answer, as i want to thank everyone for answering, and leave a comment on why i chose the winning answer. plus u also get 3 points for choosing the winning answer.

do u leave your questions to go to the vote, and if so, why ? and i don't believe in the argument that the best answer will get voted for - i've seen plenty of wrong answers get voted as the best during this past year of taking part in Yahoo Answers.

and before anyone says it, yes, i know - the choice is down to each individual person. i do realise and respect that, i'm just curious to know peoples reasons for letting it go to the vote.

Update:

NORMA STITZ :

the hours must just fly by in your house too if u are reduced to answering a question just so that u can insult someone ! here's a Newsflash for u : if u don't like the question then don't answer it u flippin muppet !!! i feel as though i have to point that one out to u as u don't seem to be the brightest bulb in the box...

Update 2:

stephen m - lol, i see u like to get straight to the point (or should that be 'points' ?!?)

Thumps down for NORMA STITZ. What a gob-sh it answer for two points. So, my fraggle friend, I always rate best answer in order to simply thank the person for their valued opinion, I also like to add a comment of appreciation. However, I didn't do this once as I wasn't satisfied with the answers, it seemed that Norma Stitz triplets were connected that night and didn't appreciate my question. The 3 comments were pathetic so thye didn't deserve to be rated best answer. Some people give really stupid irrelevant answers, why waste their time and energy doing this, when this yahoo service derserves only genuine thoughtful answers for of course real questions. Bisous.

I usually choose a best answer. But sometimes, the question expires before I get a chance to choose. That happens if I have to go out of town or my computer is down for a while or something like that.

Also, sometimes I do not choose when I simply cannot decide who has the best answer. Sometimes, I get conflicting answers, and I honestly don't know which is the correct answer. So I figure if I put it to vote, if one particular answer gets a bunch of votes, then that is most likely the correct answer.

Other times, I just don't really like any of the answers that are given. In those cases, I want them to go to vote, and then I will vote "No Best Answer" and hope that others also vote "No Best Answer" because if "No Best Answer" wins, then I get my points back.

I agree with you. Sometimes, the voted answer isn't even an answer to the question at all!

For me, I don't pick an answer all the time because I don't really get the time to pick one. I tend to just read whatever answer is provided by other users and just use them when they are useful.

But if I get the time, I will definitely pick the answer myself (like you) since you get points and really, you get to thank everyone for helping.

So far i have always picked a best answer, even if there was only one answer and its the wrong one, mainly because i like to thank people for taking the time and effort to answer me. Besides leaving the Question to voting doesn't mean the best answer for you will be picked.

    sorry had to edit

I just got a mail saying about a vote on one of my questions, turns out i missed out answering 2 of my questions, dang

    Al....

  • How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

I usually like to choose the best answer myself, that way I can thank the person and tell them why I chose their answer. A couple of times though I had so many good answers that I wanted the voters to choose.

I pick best answer too - for the same reasons as you. However, a lot of the questions on here seem to be rhetorical most of the time so there is no right or wrong or best answer!

I pick 99% of my best answers but occasionally I cant decide and let the voting take over.

You choose an answer if you feel it has accurately answered ur queries. There are many choices but the closest and accurate one becomes the best answer. If you can't decide then you can put it for a vote.

    Decision comes from you.

I pick Best answer but sometimes I leave it to go to the vote.

So far, all the questions I asked are now resolved. None are in voting. So I would say I usually Resolve them myself. On my other account, I always ask questions in the Polls and Surveys section and I usually let THOSE ones go into vote.
