How can you remove a blood stain from a white cotton garment?

I have a heavy cotton sports uniform that has a blood stain on it. I've tried bleach and peroxide...but it seems to be fixed in the material. Is there anything else I can use to remove it?

Update:

It's been washed twice...always cold water and always air dryed...don't know if that helps or not.

Dave, have you exposed the stain to hot water or to the hot dryer? If so, that stain may be baked into the cotton fibers.

However, I'd try two things before giving up. One, an oxy-type cleaner. Two, an enzyme based cleaner like Biz, designed to break down organic matter. I don't use oxy stuff myself, but I'd soak anything white in Biz without fear. (If there's colored player numbers or lettering, don't soak that part.) If either one lightened the stain at all, I'd then use an old toothbrush to scrub Zout (not Shout, but Zout) stain remover into the spot, going every direction on both sides of the fabric, before laundering normally.

Beyond that, there's always coating it with cornstarch as a cover-up!

soak your uniform in cold water and add salt.to the stain Just enough water to cover the stain. Leave over night and if you can put this in your washing machine then use a 30ºc normal wash cycle. If not then wash by hand and rinse well

Run cold water over the stain, pour hydrogen peroxide over the stain, repeat until gone. Good luck! :)

if it's been through the dryer you are out of luck, but you can try soaking it in cold ice water with milk put directly on the sopt and let it soak for several hours, run it through the wash again but don't put itin the dryer. until the stain is removed or at least light enough not too be seen anymore

    Good luck

I use "spray and wash". It kinda looks like a deodorant stick and it works really well

Try using Tilex. Leave it on a few minutes, then launder right away with like colors or by itself.

Did you try oxy clean or miracle orange or something to that nature? Sometimes those things work wonders.
