I quit! Do I still get my vacation pay?
I live in California, I gave three weeks notice today. My last day of work will be October 19th. My vacation from work was scheduled for the week after. Since I'm quiting before I take my paid vacation does my boss still have to pay me for it?
There is no contract in writing, however I was obviously getting paid for it

I have worked here for more than a year, the vacation time accrued from the year before. I have alread earned it!

In most cases yes, but I would check with human resources first. You don't want to go away on vacation thinking you're going to get paid and you don't!

A few years ago, I worked for an employer that "revoked" your vacation time if you gave less than a 3 week notice. So, because my new job needed me in 2 weeks, I lost 30 hours. Not sure if it's legal or not, but it does happen. Unfortunately. =(

pretty much no.. i was told that vacation assumes you will be there the whole year.. you can sometimes have it paid out.. but usually after you give notice that chance is shot!

I think so. I would just nicely ask if you will be getting a check for your vacation time.

Depends on your contract. If it is not defined in your contract, then the answer is no.

That all depends on the companies policies, but don't bank on it.
