Pain on the right side of my brain only--last only a few seconds at a time??

every now and then, about once a week or so at most, i will get these terrible pains only in the right side of my brain. it hurts really badly for about 4 or 5 seconds and then it will stop for about 30 seconds and then do it again. When it is happening i have to basically shut my eyes and just hold my head until the pain goes away. has anyone ever experienced this? can you tell me what this is please?

    DEar,

The brain has no direct pain receptors, so even if there is pain the brain cannot appreciate it. The receptors are present in the meninges , covering the brain tissue. If the pain stays for only a very short time most probably could be a form of migrane. But more relevant would be if you could answer some of the answer to the questions I ask : When is tha pain occuring during the day time? How often do you get these pain attacks? I mean frequency. Since when this pain is occuring. How long? What are the aggravating factor if any known? What are the relieving factors? Any food allergies known? Any history of injury or accident earlier in life?
