How to get start up funds for a non profit...?

I want to start a non-profit organization to refurbish old school buildings or old apartment buildings to make livable spaces for families that need somewhere to live while they are trying to further thier education. (either college or some type of training program).

I have known many people who just didn't go to any training after highschool because they couldnt afford to pay the bills, eat, & have enough time for studies afterwards. I want to beable to give them cheaper living space so they can acieve a higher level of living. (example: husband goes to college full time while wife works part-time and takes care of kids). I would charge rent at a reduced rate & that money would go back into the program.

I just dont know how to get the start up funds to refurbish the first building. I know plenty of people who would help with the labor, but no one is able to help finacially. Any advice?

Fund rising is an art, and you should be professionally able to identify the donors and get donations. You will have to publicize your activities

Donations are going to play a key role. Fundraisers are another way to gain the money needed. You will need to go out into the community and network and spread the word about what you are doing. Chances are, you will find others (hopefully some with money) that will want to help you out. One organization that I can think of that might help is the United Way. They tend to donate money to non-profit organizations.

I used to work for a nonprofit organization. A lot of our funding was through government grants. You'll have to do some research on what is available in the state you live in.

    Good luck in your endeavors.

we actually do not % extra firms for it - alongside with all the overhead and duplication of attempt. extremely, have her get entangled with the present corporation and help advance funds. whilst some thing works, do not attempt to reinvent it.

Try this one. It is proving very popular .Ordinary people lending money to others in a formal system , sidestepping the banking system
