instead of building on greenfield sites shouldn't inner city sites be considered?
with the government proposing to build 80,000 new homes in the next few years wouldn't it be more feasible to review derelict properties and abandoned industrial sites for re-development?

Brown sites and infills are used all the time. There are just not enough of them.

I'd like to see some abandoned buildings turned into housing. It's astonishing the number of abandoned buildings there are in London and other cities too. Some of these have been bought as investment and just left to rot (some investment!) and could be refurbished as affordable housing. It's better than building on greenfield sites around the city as it puts housing where it is needed, near the jobs!

I agree although you'd have to make sure noone is living in the "derelict" properties first.
I guess maybe there aren't enough of these derelict inncer city sites available?
Otherwise it depends what type of housing they are bulding. If its private, "luxury" housing the people who are going to buy that don't want to live in the inner cities. The poor sods who have to make do with Council housing don't have much choice.

Brownfield sites are full to overflowing, there is enough land still left in England to build on, it's time for the greenfield sites to take some of the burden

Why build at all? There are thousands of properties avilable across the country. It is corporate and personal greed which keeps feeding the beast of the housing market.

hi Trish, First that's honest to point out that for the period of uncomplicated terms 10% of the united kingdom is geared up on, next would desire to it extremely be approximately green or brown, we'd all like green aspects shall we be honest, although what we actual want is reasonable housing, dentists, colleges. perhaps the belief could be to construct greater new cities as a exchange of attempting to cram greater into the cities we've, this might motivate greater communities as a exchange of greater houdsing being geared up after which community centers being stretched even greater advantageous. it would be stunning if the fairly some run down homes would desire to be carried out up interior the united kingdom, perhaps human beings on advantages would desire to help form the gardens out to boot as discovering trades indoors. human beings might relish discovering a commerce and this would finally end up with apprentices to boot as greater much less high priced housing because of the fact there became no longer plenty enter into doing up those places. What we would desire to do is artwork out the genuine way forward, although maximum of folk disagree which you get thumbs up, thumbs down, interior the top you recognize which you would be able to no longer please every person although plenty you are trying, thats why you may desire to have faith in what you're doing. very like a city pass there are people who thinks its stunning because of the fact there is way less site visitors going interior the direction of the city, others asserting the city will die because of the fact they want the business enterprise, myself nicely i could be thinking shall we enlarge the brownfield to run as much as that pass to create greater housing, with a bit of luck then that would desire to positioned business enterprise returned into that village or city, although of direction human beings prefer green fields, as I stated you may no longer please every person. each and all of the ultimate ....
