How can I remove car oil stains from my light concrete driveway? Some of the spots are large, 1/2 foot wide..

I let a friend park their car (old classic- my butt!!) in my driveway while they were away for a month and the car leaked oil on my very light, almost white concrete driveway..The spots are big in my opinion, some over 1/2 foot across.. Are there any products I can buy or better yet any home remedies that work?.. Thanks for your help!!!

their are a lot of chemicals out there, but oil dry is cheap and easy.just sprinkle a good amount on the stain and grind it into the concrete with your shoe.you can buy oil dry where car parts are sold.the more you grind the spot will dissapear, and become powdery,if your still not satisfied, use an appropriate acid solution to get the concrete to original, however oil dry will work the longer you rub it into the surface.

I read somewhere that for oil stains on the driveway you should pour good old coke generously over the spills...(not the zero or diet versions!!!) leave it there for 30 minutes and then spread old newspaper over it. When the newspaper dries out after a few days, It will lift the oil stain. Repeat if the oil has been for a long time. I have never personally used this method....but no harm trying!!!

If you use any of the suggestions given - and I Hope one at least works, remember to scrub down afterwards with a good detergent. (the concrete, that is!). This will remove any fumes and oil left in the concrete. Then have the car removed to a junk yard and blow it up!!!!!

You could try good old petrol (watch out for fumes and fire hazard of course) and you could also try Veriuni Stain Treatment which safely removes organic-based stains utilizing the power of natural enzymes to chomp away a the stain. Try it at:

Kitty litter will soak up the majority of it, then try a concrete cleaner.
