Interpreting the Constitution according to the "original intent," as mixed with the concept of "judicial restraint."
In other words, I don't want an argument about why courts should strike down more laws, but why court should strike down fewer laws. But that courts will still exercise some judicial review, striking down some laws which violate enumerated rights.
And there also needs to be a return to the recognition that the foremost reason why our Founding Fathers established an independent judiciary was for the sake of protecting the rights of person accused of crimes. The Miranda decision was not wrong.

I would like to see a truly progressive party. One that values science, reason, the rule of law, and inclusiveness. We are a very diverse country, but both (current) parties pay far too much attention to blocs whose main concern is their faith. I understand that it's freedom OF religion, and not FROM religion, but when we cater to the majority (Judeo-Christianity) like we have, for far too long, we disenfranchise a wide variety of people and ideas. I feel that a lot of our politicians who invoke God's name in every, or every other, speech are hypocrites that are playing on people's emotions anyway.
What we need is a non-sectarian party that cares about: service over self-enrichment, inclusiveness over divisiveness, diplomacy over bullying, and building something for future generations instead of leaving them with an impossiple mortgage to pay off.

I would like to see a candidate talk more about stuff in our on country and what to do to fix it instead of our foreign policy. We need someone who can bring the big companies back to the states and get our jobs back instead of killing our boys in a useless war that supposedly hasn't been a war for a long time if I heard bush right when he said the war in Iraq was over.
