Do really dumb travel questions bother you?

As you know I do answer a few questions in here so I guess that I qualify to answer some of your question(s). I like you would think that if you can figure out how to access Yahoo Q&A that you should be able to find the answer on line to many of the questions, I think that some come from people that are a bit lazy, Some are from folks that are over 50 years old and have very limited experience with a computer, and I think that some are intended to just generate a question so that a person can have some thing to do. I also think that a number of questions are asked as back up. Along with all of that there are those that have a few good questions. A person the other day asked the question how far from Houston to San Antonio, my answer was in two parts because not everyone lives down town in either city and by using two different starting spots gives a better idea. I live in San Antonio as you already know but I might ask the question what is the best way to drive around Austin to continue my trip north as we all know Austin is horrendous with traffic and takes a long time to cross in either direction. If you live in Austin there is a good and common answer, but if you aren't familiar with Austin you might ask the question. Looking on mapquest will not give you the answer that you might need.

Brown Berets, now this is another story, I am sure that Sammy will be their president some day, LULAC started in 1929 and has worked for the betterment of Mexican Americans, but having said that it isn't 100% true as they will take an area that is largely Hispanic and work to improve the area this includes other ethnicities. The Brown Berets on the other hand started in 1994, (as such) but link back to the mid 1960s and have been militant. They are also self appointed as the spokes person for all Mexican people, and we both know that that just isn't so. I feel like they promote problems and aren't really in the business to solve problems.

In general most folks are asking the questions just to have some thing to do, when a person asks the question where should we think about living in San Antonio they have for the most part already decided where it is that they are going to live and are looking for someone to give them a pat on the back and say you have really made a wonderful choice, but they can't just come out and ask what you think of their choice.

I answer these question because I might just once in ten get a real question and I am always willing to give my thoughts about most subjects and San Antonio, sorry for the long answer.

I do wonder about a lot of the lame questions I see in a number of city sites, like the "what's there to do in _______" question that gets posted every friggin' day. We also get, "What's Houston's zip code" at least once a week. Geez, these people have fingers (or else they wouldn't be able to type questions). My dog can use a search engine (arfarfarf.com).

What is the deal with Sammy, anyway? He's a gay bigot or something? We have spammers in Houston, especially one chick who now goes by Mzzzzhollywood26 who hates it here, sees nothing wrong with being a guy's "mistress" and sits around all day watching VH1 (especially Flava Flav).

Yahoo isn't really interested in deleting spammers unless they really go over the line... unfortunately.

I hope you (like me) maintain the patience to put up with so many lame questions.

I think people want to participate but don't know how so they will throw out a question like "how far is to......."

Whatever the reason its still fun to read other peoples ideas about our great city.

I have to admit I do not like it when people lump areas of town as bad or dangerous without ever having visited families there or businesses etc.., or people of different ethnic backgrounds being lumped into one group. I say have an open mind. San Antonio is a great place to live. Like any other city we have our problems, but I would never want to live any where else.

I often look at travel sites and think it is crazy when people ask if there will be hurricanes the week of their cruise two months away.... but people who can't mapquest, or use the zipcode finder really drive you nuts.

I think it is fine if people ask opinions about restaurants and activities. Its great when they ask about neighborhoods and things that go on in the city. I think everybody learns when we read each others answers.

But when 13 people say it is 196.4 miles from San Antonio to Houston and it takes 3.3 hours. It is no longer opinion it is just everybody quoting mapquest.

I don't answer on here often but I do check it out from time to time because I live in South Texas (near Victoria) and am curious about what's being asked about my neck of the woods. My favorite question is someone who posts the question in July: "We are coming to San Antonio next week. Can you tell us what the weather will be like?" Hello! It's summer. It's July. It's San Antonio. It's hot.

YES. As I read some of these questions I wonder if these people are really serious and should even travel, or they have nothing better to do with their time then sit around and think of these questions.

Some people should not be allowed to travel any further than the grocery store.
