  • What is the best Christmas/Winter Season Holiday song ever?

I was going to make a party mix for a holiday party, and taught it would be better to get other people's opinions of great songs. Please give a song title and the performer or band who best presented the song.

Such as: White Christmas by Bing Crosby or Mary Did You Know by Clay Aiken.

    Thanks for the input!

  • Senator Obama offers a tax plan does it work?

Senator Obama offers a tax plan which takes only from the top 10% of the income bracket, because Bush has given too much to the rich. He says that if he spreads the money around then everyone can have the opportunity to achieve wealth.

Currently to top 10% pay 70.79% of all taxes collected. That means that his 95% of the population pays less than 30% of all taxes collected. And the bottom 50% only currently pay 2.99 percent of all tax money collected. (these amounts are actually lower for the 95% under the current plan than they were under Clinton)

If everyone achieves wealth, would that not cause horrific inflation, and thereby mean that nobody would have wealth?

  • Does anyone think that Portland, OR should annex all the cities in the metro area?

The Portland, OR metropolitan area is large, and apparently without any flaws. Should the city of Portland annex all the suburbs into the city, so it can be one of the largest 25 cities in the US?

Then maybe we would care about how many coffee shops and record stores it has by comparison to San Antonio.

    What do you think?

  • Is everyone tired of hearing about how bad San Antonio is?

A certain gentleman, from Portland has been posting numerous responses on the YA San Antonio Travel site discussing how he was displeased with his visit in San Antonio.

I am sure that not everyone who visits evey city has a favorable impression of the cities they visit. Yet, most of us do not then spend the future complaining about the visit endlessly.

This is a man who wanted to buy a home on the east side neat the cemeteries of Houston Street, and then decide that all the buildings and homes in the city are dilapidated shacks. I'm sure that every home and building in Portland is sparkling and new (which must have changed since I was there) and I do not deny that there are some rather old buildings in disrepair in some parts of the city, However, there are also a majority of buildings and homes which are beautiful and in excellent shape, and probably many which exceed the fine standard set by Portland. Incidentally, as Portland has none of the people on Forbes's List, yet San Antonio has several, I'm sure those were some of the shacks he missed.

Also he did in his week in the city take the time to find out that the 1.9 million people in the Greater San Antonio area are all rude.

I can only say, that if being rude to him manage to get him to move to Austin, then we did our job well.

Does anyone agree that he should just enjoy his life in Austin, and leave this site alone?

  • Is there too much confusion in current health care education?

Now there are programs where Medical assistants can get a certificate, but also programs where they can get an associate degree. LPN/LVNs also have the certificate/associate degree option. RNs can get a diploma, associate or BSN degree. PAs can currently get an associate, BS or master's degree.

How can all of these programs be equal, and why are they all necessary.

If an MA has an associate degree but the nurse running the office staff is an LPN with a certificate, how is less education criteria for supervision. Similarly, how can a PA with an associate degree give orders to an RN with a BSN. In hospitals often BSN RNs have ADN supervisors, though many hospitals are now making it necessary to have a BSN to be a supervisor.

If it is necessary to have an associate degree to be an LPN how can you be an RN with the same education?

Wouldn't it make more sense if there was a set entry for every level of practice, and each added degree moved the person to a new level.?

  • Does Laura Bush deserve to be President as much as Hillary?

Hillary claims to bring 35 years of experience to the office. But really, hasn't she only been a senator from NY for 7 years? Before this she held no office, and served in no elected capacity, and in no capacity approved by the Congress, such as a cabinet or other official government post. Her "experience" is as the First Lady" of Arkansas and the US.

Laura Bush has been the First Lady of Texas a much larger, significantly more populated state. (There are more people in 3 of Texas' major metropolitan areas than in the state of Arkansas) and the First Lady of the US. Should we also give her some points for being the daughter-in-law of the President of the US and the sister-in-law of the Governor of Florida?

Does being a First Lady actually count as experience?

  • After a season like this should there be an NCAA Football Champion?

This season, with no undefeated teams, and even one team which did not even win it's own conference in the BCS Championship game, doesnt the FBS division need a playoff system.

If you forced the PAC 10 and Big 10+ to have a conference championship game, the championship game this year probably would have looked much different.

A playoff could start with the champion of these brackets:

    ACC vs Independents

    Big East vs MAC

    Big 10 N or W vs Big 10 S or E

    PAC 10 N vs PAC 10 S

    Big 12 N vs Big 12 S

    SEC E vs SEC W

    Sunbelt vs CUSA

    WAC vs MWAC

    Then

    winner ACC/Ind vs BigE/MAC (#1)

Big 10 Champ vs PAC 10 Champ (#2)

Big 12 Champ vs SEC Champ(#3)

    Sunbelt/CUSA vs WAC/MWAC(#4)

    then #1 vs #2

    #3 vs #4

    then

winner 1/2 vs 3/4 for national championship

The 4 Big conferences could always play each other for conference champion, but the rest could be drawn as a lottery to see who actually played who.

    Any thoughts?

  • Do really dumb travel questions bother you?

This is primarily for those of you who I see answering frequently on this site, providing thoughtful, precise and reasonable answers. Having read the questions we have had lately...does it drive you nuts for people who obviously know how to use a computer to ask how far it is from one place to another, when the whole world has to know how to mapquest or google or ask.com the answer to that question by now. Why do people not know how to look up a zipcode if they can find the answers site??? Why would anyone ever need to know how far it is from SA to the Vatican?? If we have LULAC why do we need the Brown Berets? And can someone load a computer virus into Sammi G's computer?? I need the answers, best answers gets the10 points.

  • What is there to do in the Barnsdale, Oakham area?

My family is considering a summer trip to England and have been offered a condominium for a week at Barnsdale, Oakham on Rutland Water, I believe it is near Leicestershire. Is there anything to do in the immediate area, and/or is it easy to travel by rail or automobile to sites further away?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • How do you reciprocate if you friends cannot be exposed to your pets?

We have friends who have had us over to their house for dinner several times. However, their daughter is very allergic to our pets and the one time we had them over for dinner got ill. We have taken them out to eat, but don't feel we are responding with the proper courtesy. What is the best way to handle this??

  • I was wondering why the people of the UK always seem so bitter towards the US?

I am a Texan, and proud of the heritage we have here, in my state as well as the US. My ancestors were from the UK, mostly English with some Scot and Irish in the mix. I enjoy many of the things about the UK. I study British history, read the literature and understand that you have a great heritage.

The US is a young country and has grown quickly in size, wealth and power and therefore acts and is like a spoiled child. But unfortunately we are after all Britain's spoiled child.

I have many friends here who have immigrated from the UK, and have other friends who have either come to the US or are currently here as a result of their service with the RAF or British Army. We always find a lot in common.

By the way I thought it was really cool driving my Jaguars, now I find out they are made by Ford.
