Fall trees in California?

Question

I have this big photo project coming up and my theme is fall trees(yellow,red, and orange leaves). Does anyone know of any locations in california that has beautiful Fall trees? My teacher doesn't want any signs of man in the picture. Just nature. So unfortunately I can't use city or neighborhood trees because of sidewalks or telephone cords. Any ideas?

Update:

I'm in central California. Near Monterey, CA. I don't mind traveling. I want a variety of places.

The drive along Hecker Pass Highway is close to you and there are many diverse trees--not to mention Western Tree Nursery. Pines, oaks, and others. And what about the 17 mile drive at Pebble Beach.

-Armstrong Woods in Forestville, CA (about 1 hr. north of SF) has great redwoods
-You can find great Monterey Pines by Asilomar (the conference center near Santa Cruz).
-Muir Woods in Marin County is great.
-The Bolinas/Stinson Beach area along the coast is wonderful....
-I am sure Golden Gate Park would yield wonders.

South lake Tahoe is beautiful now.  I just took a ride last weekend and saw the most beautiful colorful trees. Sorrenson resort has has great trails and beautiful colorful trees.

Where in California? Northern, Southern or what? 
there's Yosemite, Joshua tree, Parks etc. but it all depends on where you are exactly..
