Why do people hate the Yankees and Yankees fans so much. I'm a Yankee fan, I've been since the early 70's. 1

I'm a Red Sox fan and I can honestly say I don't mind Yankee fans like yourself...that LOVE the sport and are fanatics about their team. But its the fans that write saying that all of the other teams "suck" and that the Yankees will "sweep any team they go up against".

Most Yankee fans are arrogant and like to talk trash, while others like yourself suffer because of them. I can't stand those fans.

Baseball is a sport...a competitive one...

I'm still bitter about the 2006 NLCS lost and I'm lol'd at Adam Wainwright as he was getting smacked around with his friend Carlos Beltran in the outfield looking on. I'll also continually dislike the Marlins for being spoilers in 2007 and 2008. Hope Reyes enjoys walking to the bank as a loser (not in the bad life way since he's making the money, in the literal way considering how bad the Marlins are). I can't answer since I'm not a Yankees fan, but I wouldn't get bored if the Mets build a dynasty and win year after year.

The Yanks rich history is not why they're hated. The Yanks rich owner is why they're hated. The Boss doesn't seem to be interested in building a championship caliber team. He's more interested in trying to buy a championship caliber team. In order to do that, he'll pick out the best players from other teams and make them offers that he knows that team can't match. The players take the money, and head for supposedly greener pastures. That is why the Yankee players are also hated. Giambi for example was loved in Oakland. Once he signed with the Yanks, he was hated. Same goes for A-Rod, Damon, and countless other players who've played for the Yanks. No one wants to see their hometown hero leave for the Evil Empire. The reason the Yankee fans are hated is because of their 'mightier than thou' attitude. Because they have all these great players, the fans have come to expect a championship and nothing less. Watching these guys play day after day makes the fans think 'wow! we have the best team on the planet, and no one can beat us!' Doesn't matter how baseball savvy that fan is. That fan will still always carry that attitude around. Granted some people probably do hate the Yanks because of jealousy. But I think my reasons are more legit than just jealousy. I've always loved the game, but what the Yanks have done in recent history is just not good for the game.

I've got no beef with the Yankees team, but there are a lot of Yankees fans I can't stand. Yankees fans in New York might be very knowledgeable and passionate, but there are a lot of jackasses that claim the Yankees as their team that aren't from New York and only root for the team because they're front-runners. I've only met a handful of Yankees fans from New York (I've never been to NYC, they were on a road trip and I sat next to them at a Royals game) and I actually got along with them. They were good fans of the game. Unfortunately, it's the people outside of NY that wear the pinstripes that give all Yankees fans a bad name.

I do not hate Yankee fans. I hate ignorant fans. It just so happens that since I love the Red Sox, a lot of Yankee fans hate me and that is ridiculous too. I appreciate all fans that are true fans of their team and the game of baseball. I hate trash talking and being thrown into the category of all other fans of my favorite team. As for the Yankees themselves, I don't hate them, I just really dislike them and it is because they had kicked my teams butt way too many times in the past..I pretty much got over it after 2004.

Sometimes I wonder about this myself. I am a Boston Red Sox fan myself. It's a little strange for me because my favorite player is Hydeki Matsui of the Yankees. I think what happens with a lot of the Yankees' fans is that they get too big of a head because the Yankees are always winning. We all know this. They are one of the best of the best in baseball. I myself enjoy going to any baseball game to watch any team. The love of the game should be what brings people out, not just the love of the team because of their popularity. They say that baseball is one of "America's pasttimes". We should all act like it.

As for the Yankees I just don't like them b/c they are the Red Sox rivals. (I'm a sox fan). Some just seem to cocky to me. As for the fans I don't mind fans like you who are loyal to a team. I can't stand Yankee bandwagon fans who only like them b/c they win and know nothing else about the Yankees.

It's not guys like you we hate. It's the twenty and thirty-somethings who have been fans since, oh, about 1996. They know nothing except "26", and poke fun at Red Sox fans like they actually care about the game.

To be concise, it's the arrogant and cocky fairwhether fan that we hate, which unfortunately for you covers about 90% of the Yankee fans in the Yahoo Answers forum.

B/c they want to make the Yankees the scpaegoats b/c the owners of their fav teams mostly put the money they make in their own pockets instead of trying to improve their team or making their fanbase happy.
