Wrist injuries can be tricky, especially for goalies. They are not going to rush him, especially with the way the team is playing right now.
You have to be wondering about the overall security of his job when he does get back. I'm not saying he will loose his starting spot, but Gerber is putting up the numbers that could call for a platoon set-up. So your starts could be effected even when he does return if they don't find a solid trade for Gerber.
Jeff- I don't recall saying that one was better than the other because I don't claim to honestly know. I was just pointing out that it is in fact Gerber who (right now) is on the trading block, not Emery. So the brass in Ottawa, the intellegent people who get paid lots of money to figure this stuff out, don't appear to agree with you now, nor did they last season and through the SCP, or else he would have played then and they also wouldn't be shopping him now. That could change and you could become right as the season goes on.
Source(s): Shue- I sure hope i'm next! The next one to watch you put up 0g-0a and a minus 7 going into Thursday, that would be fine with me. lol Hopefully you beat up on me the same way you are beating up on Bob now, is it still 8-0? - The Big BoxLv 61 decade ago
Zam, Gerber is the better goalie, he just had a bit of an off year at first last year. he did extremely well later in the season when he played. Emery benifits from guys like Volchinov (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) who block a lot of shots. Deep d there.
to the original question: Emery is out after having wrist surgery. They aren't going to rush that. Check if you can put him on the IR... see if you can work a trade with someone who has two currently active starters if you can't.

He is in the AHL currently with Binghamton for two games to prepare himself for coming back. He practiced with the Senators earlier this week and he said that it was the first practice that he has had since the surgery, where he was not afraid of getting shots on his wrist. So, he is showing some progress finally. John Paddock said that Ray Emery might be coming back later this week to try playing. But, then again, he was supposed to come back more than two weeks ago.
My advice would be to take Hasek, or Gerber - if you feel confident that Emery will not be played later in the week.

Ahhh, I have him in a different league, and I was wondering the same thing. I was also wondering what's going to go down now that Gerber's obviously had a great start. Hmm.
...But I have to agree with Mike (I try not to, LOL) taking Ray Emery with your 1st pick was just... wow. Haha.

He's being sent to the AHL for a 2-game conditioning stint on Friday.

Well, after last night's performance by Brian Elliott, I wouldn't be surprised if Ray was traded sooner rather than later.

lmao dude, you took him with your first pick!!! rofl, baaaaaaad idea man. I don't think he's the starter anymore, I think it's Gerber.
