The Big Box

Trying a homebrew mead, and not having done this before I put the yeast in and shook it with the water still pretty hot. It hasn't foamed up at all after perhaps 3 hours, do I need to add another packet of yeast or do I just need to wait a little?

I used brewer's yeast, and a recipe with apples and tea.

Perhaps the link should be made bigger? Perhaps Yahoo should not suggest a section at all? Despite promises to fix it at the next update, which has come and past, the hockey section is still getting dozens of completely non related questions every day.

Since Yahoo's upgrade has screwed up the hockey section beyond recognition, I was wondering if those few of you in the Handball section would mind sharing for a little bit? Nothing has been decided as to making a move yet, but I thought I'd ask and give you a heads up to the possible takeover.

I have been traveling all day and moving into college for a summer program. hence I have not been online all day. Can anyone sum up all of what happened?

All look good to me. First faceoff of a powerplay in the defending zone of the team that committed the foul- Good- I like it a lot. Increases scoring without being a gimmick, creates another reason not to take a penalty.

Preventing injuries on icing, fair enough. Not as dramatic as I would have liked to see, but functional.

If the puck deflects of the the goal frame, faceoff stays in the zone. What took them so long?

And Recommendations from the Goalie equipment group to make the equipment proportional to the goaltender were endorsed. They don't have the specific standards on that yet though.

Thoughts?

First he single handedly eliminates the Hurricanes from the playoffs, The he give up two goals on about 10 shots to Canada to lose the game.

I don't much like the guy now...

Looks innocent enough, right? You complain about things in the politics section, something I had griped about in terms of trolls. Trolls who insult other users for no real purpose. Trolls who have nothing intelligent to say other then rash generalizations.

You first mention that liberals are assholes. First, I don't know where you got your information, but you state as fact a statement that as a rational human being you should know is absolutely not true. Statements like this are one of the main reasons I left the politics section. Statements where all liberals are idiots, and all conservatives are gun toting buffons.

In fact, I remember mentioning that in my post.

Yet you still make the kind of statement I left the section for.

Reactions? Terms of deal are 2.3 first year, 2.5 second year and 2.8 third year.

This is very good. Since we picked him up, he's only been second to Staal in scoring (around the same timeframe where Staal led the NHL in scoring, Which was after Brind'Amour went down)

He's also played well in our own end, and well, genearally been great for us. 32 points in 38 games...

We also signed Stefan Chaput and Nick Dodge... Nick Dodge could be quite the steal, but he suffers from being a center on a team that has a lot of them, including Brandon Sutter probably coming up next year.

Anyway, thoughts?

You know the thing that I speak of. Anyway, with that thing happening, I need a team to root for in the playoffs. So give me a reason to root for your team in the playoffs. Best reason wins.

And if you do not know of what I speak, do not answer my question.

If the hockey section were a hockey team, who would be who? Not just in terms of position, (in fact, ignore that) but who would be the trainers, the GM, the coach, the equipment guys, the superstars, the role players, the enforcers, the agitators, so on and so forth.

And where would you put yourself?

Personally I would be an equipment guy or the quiet player who silently racks up a lot of points- think Ray Whitney.

GM would be LITY, Zap could be the coach or equipment manager...

According to Eklund, this is pretty much done Presumably for Smith.

Good trade if you ask me, good for both teams. Dallas needs scoring and Tampa needs tending.

Just one question: what the heck are 10 or so NHL mascots- including all but the capitals mascot from the SE, doing at an islanders game? I'm rather confused...

They look like they're having a good enough time though....

I mean, this division is probably one of the worst the NHL has seen in ages. If the division winner did not make the playoffs, no team would be a playoff team. There was also a long period where no team was at .500, and an even longer time when there was only one team past that mark.

But what was the worst division of all time and how does it compare to this year's SE?

What position is the hardest to get into the NHL playing? Is it goalie or a skater position, and out of skaters, who has the harder time with it- forwards or defensemen?

Just curious.

Jsut for fun. Forget about We are the champions, I want something more creative. Like End of the World As we know it by REM for the leafs... Or something like that.

Statistically speaking, what 10 or so players in the NHL draw the most penalties? they record who draws the penalty, and even though it's not public, I imagine there's a stat buried somewhere in the NHL database...

I'm just curious though...

I've played with both a former ECHL guy (who led the Greensboro Generals in penalty minutes and had the check of the game 5 straight games) And a Junior A player for the Junior Everblades (both are related to one of my teamates- the ECHL guy is his brother in law, Pro prospect is his son)

I know LITY played with NHL guys....

So what about you? Played with anyone good?

you mentioned that there's a rumored name. If there's a name there, does that mean the talk is really serious? Do you know how serious that talk is? do you think it'll actually happen?

And where would the other team be going? Or is that under debate?
