LITY- Penalties drawn?

Statistically speaking, what 10 or so players in the NHL draw the most penalties? they record who draws the penalty, and even though it's not public, I imagine there's a stat buried somewhere in the NHL database...

I'm just curious though...

Update:

Oh, I know they're probably the best players. I'm just curious to see exactly who's on the list. It would be interesting, would it not?

The NHL doesn't officially keep this stat because like scoring chances, it is hugely subjective.

Last year, an independent group had the top 3 listed as

    1) Pavel Datsyuk 217 minor penalties

    2) Sidney Crosby 211 minor penaties

    3) Teemu Selanne 198 minor penalties

They used the criteria as what should have been called as opposed to what was actually called.

Last night I saw a good 10-15 obstruction hooking non-calls, so we are slowly getting back to those bad habits

I am sure it is 10 of the best players....Crosby, Iginla etc.. because they are in a position to draw more penalties by having a step on their opponents and better players get more ice time...though I am not positive (don't know if LITY would know either), I can be pretty sure that if you take all of the best forwards in the league, they all rank up there.

BTW, that does not include Mike Ribeiro.LOL

Source(s): I read an article recently that said that Ribeiro has drawn SIX minors.

I agree with Bob but would like to add to his reasoning. Most penalties happen around the puck, the best players spend more time with the puck and viola!
