He has stated he does not want to interfere with his family life. Here's some more opinions on the subject:

Hey, it's just my own opinion, but I believe that General Powell is discusted with the political process after his experience with this administration. He is a man of honor, and there a precious few of those on either side of the aisle. I'm a Dem, but if he were to run, I would give him very serious consideration. Given the field on both sides at this point in the game, I would probably vote for him based on his decision making skills, and his personal integrity.

Because as Christopher Hitchens says he is one of the most overrated people ever, what in the hell has this guy done (accomplishments) to deserve to be seen in this light? He was Secretary of State, an appointed position, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, an appointed position, General in the Army, an achieved rank, he has never formed policy, run for election and won or even expressed an opinion other than running up to a podium with a prepared speech, wake up, he is a dullard and a nobody.

He said he knew there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq when he made his speach before the UN and was only being a good soldier.................I do not want a person who knew he was lying and help start a war which has caused the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraq people and thousands of Americans to be President

He realizes there are still too many bigots here. Unfortunately it is the same reason Clinton will not win. I despise Clinton, but I think it's sad that were she the best candidate she would likely not win because she's a woman.

He does not want to be President.
He is currently advising Barack Obama. He will endorse Senator Obama for President.

His wife is on anti-depressents. He was made aware if he ran that fact would be used in political comercials against him. He does not want to put his family through that. I do not blame him.

Because he disgraced himself by presenting Bush's lies about WMD in Iraq to the UN. He will never live it down.

Sad and jaded as it might sound, he probably has to much personal integrity for a campaign. He wouldn’t want to engage in personal attacks or mud slinging and wouldn’t want surrogates doing it in his name.
