Jewelry for lip piercing?
I'm getting my lip pierced soon and I know it's going to take a while to heal but for Christmas I was going to ask for some jewelry. I'm getting a hoop on the side but I've been looking for lip jewlery and all I can find is studs. Is there a certain name for a ring that goes on the side of your lip?

Check with your piercer on what your gauge is and what your healed size will be. Just tell them why. They should be able to easily measure before piercing so you can write it down. Your starter jewelry will be a larger diameter (or longer if you do get a stud) for swelling. It'll make it a lot easier for other people to buy if you can tell them the measurements.
Types of jewelry- The regular ring you see most often is a captive bead ring, aka CBR, ball closure ring, BCR. Also available is a seamless ring or bar closure ring. Or you can use circular barbells, aka horseshoe. Or labret studs, aka flatback (referring to the disk end used on the inside of the mouth for these, just a straight barbell with a disk on the one end). The placement on the side won't change the name of the jewelry. Do verify your size though. You don't want it too tight, and you don't want it all big and floppy either.

If you're looking for rings, try looking for captive bead rings (CBRs) or seamless rings (same as a CBR but without the bead)
a good site to find both of these in good quality materials is www.bodyartforms.com

you're very lucky :) um... the name for the jewellery has various different names.. go to your local body piercing place and ask about their captive bead rings. they are also known as captive bead hoop or ball closure ring...also cbr's, this is short for captive bead ring...and u can also try seamless rings.. these are like captive bead rings in appearance but with no bead and if you're wanting to buy online i recommend www.bodycandy.com and www.bodyartforms.com
