Is there a way to connect a portable TV to cable?
I have a approximately 10 year old portable color TV (Casio Model TV-770B crystal vision). It has about a 2 inch screen. It has a built in antenna It has connections for earphones and an external antenna but the connection for the antenna is the same size as the one for the earphones. It does not have one of those connections found on larger TV to connect a cable via one of the coaxial cables. Is there some sort of adaptor that would allow be to connect cable TV service via a coaxial cable to the portable TV external antenna connection? If so what it is called and where can I find it and roughly how much does it cost?

There really is no adaptor for your TV, but......
You can find an unused "earphone-style" of cable and adapt it to an unused RF cable (unused because you will have to cut the ends off and splice them together).
I had a portable TV and just purchased an earphone Jack to connect to an RG-59 cable.....
Then I actually FOUND a special adaptor that had an
F-connection on one end and a 7mm earphone adaptor on the other....but that was back in 1990....and in a Radio Shack store.
I suspect you may find one if they still make it.
Try Radio Shack first, or go online for an "F to 7mm" adaptor.
If you have the instruction booklet, it may actually have the specs you need for the earphone plug.....

I know what the above poster is speaking about but that's not what you need for this TV. I don't know the name of it but it used by smaller portable TVs. It has a mini jack on one end and a coaxial connector on the other. Radio shack may have them as well as Best Buy. If not, you'll have to search on line. But yes, it can be done and it's not completely uncommon.
The other thing you can do is buy a portable TV that has one included (it should be listed on the box). These are $10 or cheaper on sale at places like Walmart. Then you'd have a portable and the connector.
Like the poster 1 up said, you may need a cable box to get all of your channels. You can test it by running a channel setup and seeing how high it goes when looking for channels. If it goes higher than your cable service does on your other TVs, your OK, if not, then you need a cable box.

Yes you can. You can go to your local Radio Shack and buy a converter. It's a small instrument that will have two antenna leads on one end and a coaxial connection on the other. If you have a cable box this will allow you to receive all the channels. If not you'll will be at a disadvantage.

Typically, those were meant to use the built in antenna. IF there are two screws on the back this would be for an external antenna. You could then get a cable to VHS convertor (It's just a small L shape thing that you screw the cable into and have two wires out).
