Fibromyalgia?

Who here thinks Fibrmyalgia has much to do with the symptoms of depression bringing on pain and triedness?

Update:

thats what I am thinking, that fibrmyalgia is A-symptomatic of depression. If Depression is treated then maybe the rest wouldnt come about??

Update 2:

my sister says she has this, but when I talked to the Dr. across street from me about it, it hasnt been approved by the FDA at that time becasue they could see no real disease and just sympytoms from oth matters. there was also a list of the women that get it. Usually in their 40, white, depressed, not a great marriage, sitting around most the day. Although I dont totally doubt my sister has this, i just wonder why it is selective pain. When her frind comes over or if they have a craft show, she will go. IF she hs to go grocery shopping, she is in too much pain.. I dont know what to think

I don't think so. I could be wrong but the way I understand it it is an auto-immune problem like Lupus is. And it has physical symptoms that can not be explained by depression. However, I do believe that alot of people with the disorder do also suffer from depression which complicates it. Just like alot of people with degenerative disorders also have depression. People with high amounts of pain often become depressed. The depression can add to this making matters worse. Treat the depression and SOME of the symptoms are alleviated but not cured....

It was recently reconized as a disability/ illness (at least in Calif) One of my oldest friends has it and I know what she goes thru.... some people do use illness or disability as a crutch though....

I actually think it's a problem with the muscles. when the muscles aren't working properly they can cause pain all over the body. But I do think that the onset could be caused by depression.
