Remember those grid art activities in elementary school?
What are they called? The teacher gives you a grid with letters and numbers, and an instruction sheet. The instruction sheet has coordinates telling where to put certain designs and shapes and colors. For example, the sheet would have "I2" and then a box with what you are supposed to put in that coordinate. At the end, it made a picture. Where can I find them on the Internet to print out?

Searching for the phrase "color by numbers" turned up some websites similar to what you are talking about. However, they seem to be only coloring squares in a grid rather than coloring with a shape in a square.

Yep and I LOVE doing them still! The non-artist's answer to being artistic.
I can tell you that some of the puzzle magazines publish a couple of them in each issue....but you have to check first, only a few of them still do it.
BUT, i turned up a website that looks good. I searched for Grid Art. The first one looks like it has about 75 simple pictures, but they are from photos. The second one seems to be more what you want, just fewer of them....but a new one each week!
Good Luck! Hope this helps.
