Question about HDMI cables?

I plan to get an LCD TV and a DVD/VCR player. Do I really need these cables? I don't have a gaming system, cable or satellite subscriptions; I only need to hook up the player to the TV. I have no idea if I need HDMI cables or if one of these comes with any cables. Please help me out.

Unless have have an upconverting dvd player that upconverts only via hdmi, you don't need one.

For your situation I would say a HDMI cable would be unnecessary. In fact, the DVD/VCR player probably can't use HDMI.

Honestly though, you are missing the whole purpose of an HDTV though if you don't have any of the other things you listed. It's a waste of money on a TV that you really can't use properly. I hope you just take this as sound advice.
