She didn't know, the whole movie is based on faith and the connection of good and evil. If the daughter knew the bullets were blanks, the movie's purpose would have no consistency. The man at the counter tried to tell her, but she was angry so she blew him off. The writer was trying to emphasize the point that without that one mistake, the whole story would change.

I'm not 100% clear on this. For those who know about guns it is obvious those were blanks (as was pointed out to me). But I don't know if the daughter knew or not. But there isn't anything in the movie that would give you reason to believe she knew.

I think she knew they were blanks for two reasons. When the man asked if she knew what they were he implied "these are going to shoot anything" and she said can I just have them. And at the end when she took them from the drawer, she looked over to make sure no one was watching or could see that blanks was written on the box.

she did not know. when she asked for the bullets, she said something to the effect of 'give me the red box right there'

and he asked her, 'do you know what these are?'

but she said 'i don't care. just give them to me'

so she had no clue they were blanks.
