Where Did The Trinity Come From?

The teaching of the Trinity is of PAGAN Origin that PRE-DATES first Century Christianity by HUNDREDS of Years !

another favorite is when a priest ends mass and quotes 2 Cor 13:14 The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God and the communion/fellowship of the Holy Ghost be with you all.

1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

Genises, God said, let US make man in OUR image, etc. etc. God is a trinity.

And Jesus said, "I and the Father are one" and "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father."

And when Thomas saw him after the Resurrection, he said, "My Lord and my God."

There are several pre-Christian pagan belief systems. Saul of Tarsus, a coastal city in what is now Turkey, was born into a Jewish family who were Roman Citizens. Mithrasism was prevelent in his time. He was a keen persecuter of the early followers of Isa (Peace be Upon Him). It was upon Saul's alleged conversion on the road to Damascus, which blinded him for three days, that he began to go to all the synagouges preaching that Isa (pbuh) was the Son of God. Astaghfirallah. He changed his name to Paul, and his letters, his epistles, compose 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament. There are existing trinities in Persian, Hindu, and Egyptian cultures also. I have provided three links below for you.

Faith in the Trinity

Christians are baptized "in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." They are not baptized "in the names" of the Father, Son and Spirit because there is only one God, the Most Holy Trinity. The baptismal confession of faith has three parts because "the faith of all Christians rests on the Trinity" (St. Caesarilus of Arles).

The Central Mystery

The Trinity is the central mystery of Christian life, the source of all the other mysteries, and the most fundamental mystery in "the hierarchy of the truths of faith." The whole history of salvation is identical with the way God revealed himself as Father, Son and Spirit. The Trinity is a mystery which would not be known unless revealed. The mystery is inaccessible both to reason alone and to Israel before the sending of Jesus and the sending of the Holy Spirit.

Root of Faith

The Trinity has always been the very root of the Church's faith (expressed in the baptismal liturgy). Paul summarized this apostolic faith in saying "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you" (2 Cor 13:13).

Three Important Terms

In the early Ecumenical Councils, the Church clarified its understanding of the Trinity in order to respond to heresies. The Church developed three important terms:

1. Substance, (also called essence or nature) which designates the divine being in its unity

2. Person, which designates the Father, Son and Spirit in the real distinction among them

3. Relation, which designates that their distinction lies in the relationship of each to the others

One God

The Trinity is one. The Church does not believe in three Gods but in one God in three persons (the "consubstantial Trinity)." The divine persons do not share the one divinity among themselves. Each of them is God, whole and entire. "Each of the persons is that supreme reality, namely, the divine substance, essence or nature" (Fourth Lateran Council).

Distinct Persons

Father, Son and Spirit are not just three names for three modalities of the one God. They are really distinct from one another in their relations of origin. "It is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten and the Holy Spirit who proceeds" (Fourth Lateran Council).

Based on Relationships

The real distinction of each Person lies in their relationship to one another. "In the relational names of the persons, the Father is related to the Son, the Son to the Father and the Spirit to both"(Eleventh Council of Toledo). The Father is wholly in the Son and in the Spirit. The Son is wholly in the Father and the Spirit. The Spirit is wholly in the Father and the Son (Council of Florence).

"I entrust to you today the profession of faith in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each person considered in himself is entirely God" (St. Gregory of Nazeanzus).

You neglect to quote other parts of the Bible where the word "echad" is used to denote exclusive oneness, instead of a compound unity.

In other words, echad is exactly like the word "one".

We can say, "there is one car in the driveway".

or

"This table and chair are one dinette set".

The first sentence the word one denotes exclusiveness, namely that there is one and not two.

The second denotes a compound unity, that two or more items come together to form one unit.

So, the only way you know for sure is from the context. The context of the Bible (the Jewish one, that is) is that G-d is One without any parts.

False religious leaders staking their "this is how I see it" claim onto what was otherwise truth.

Don't worry, they will pay at Armageddon for misleading the masses. All false religious leaders, false religions including Christendom will pay at Armageddon with their lives. This will be the second coming of Jesus.
