It's often said we use only around 10% of our brains......?

There has been a notion that only 10% of the human brain is being used at any given point in time, and that the remaining 90% is dormant. However, this has been found to be a myth, something that probably came up after the discovery that only 10% of the neurons are active at any given point in time simultaneously. This latter part is true, if more than 10% of the over 100 billion neurons were to become active simultaneously, our body would suffer from a massive short circuit, a grand seizure of sorts. However, it has not been determined as to what percentage of the brain is used by a person at any given instance in time.

its unfortunate that we are becoming a less involved with our brains. In my opinion, we, as a society, abuse our bodies and our minds. I am no exception.

We tend to place more emphasis on less intelectual subjects..i.e. entertainment, sports.

We live in a country where paid athletes make more per year than our president. How wrong is that.

Majority of our scholarships for our colleges and universities are given to student athletes. Very few scholars get scholarships. It's a backwards scenario.

We don't praise intelligent children going to top universities. Our society worries more about Brittney Spears, than economic hardships for students that are trying to get into college.

Wake up America.

I don't know, but it has been proven that right handed people are predominately operating from the left side of their brains, while left handed people are predominately operating from the right side of their brains. This means that only left handed people are in their right minds.
