What document banned slavery in the US?

hint: its not the Emancipation proclamation.

Update:

correct to those of you saying the 13th amendment, the emancipation proclamation only freed slaves in states that had suceeded from the Union, which did not include the slave states of Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland, Deleware, or West Virginia. Also, had the thirteenth amendment not been passed, slavery would still have been permitted in the south after rejoining the union, and although the existing slaves would have been free, new slaves could have been brought in.

The Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution officially abolished, and continues to prohibit, slavery, and, with limited exceptions (those convicted of a crime), prohibits involuntary servitude.
