My daughter just experienced the same problem Thank goodness she has only one dog. Her vet told her to call a groomer. The groomer had to soak the dog in something for 40 minutes. The length of time this solution is on the dog is determined by how bad the odor is on the dog.
The groomer said even after the treatment she would smell a whiff of it, especially when the dog gets wet or the weather is humid for about six months. Thankfully that was a month ago and I can no longer smell it.
The groomer also said if you want to try the old tomato juice thing, you might as well just drink it, that is how much good it will do for the odor.
Whatever you do, don't even think of the old oil treatment. As in oil from a vehicle. That can kill your dog very quickly. The oil fills the dog's pores and the dog dies.
Good luck tonight. Call groomer at 8:00 a.m.
EDIT NOTE: See? I told you everyone would say tomato juice. I never heard of tomato sauce. That is a good one.....

Tomato juice is a wives tale-it doesn't work. Use the combination of hydrogen peroxide, dish soap and baking soda. Do a search to get exact amounts. This remedy will neutralize the skunk-I learned from experience. Good luck.

The acid in tomato juice and vinger works the best, if you use vinegar make sure you dilute in water before putting it on your dog, if you dont it could burn/hurt your dog.
If you get it on your clothes unfortantley they are ruined, I have not found anything that gets that smell out of clothes so make sure you wear some old clothes you dont mind ruining when you wash the dog.
When your done with the clothes put them in a plastic trash bag and tie it tight then throw them away.
Also it might take two-three washings to completely get rid of the smell and if you can do it outside, that is the best so you dont have the smell in your house.
Also if you want to spend the money you can take your dog to a groomer who will charge you as much as they can to get rid of the smell. Trust me they will also say anything to make you pay....done that once.....never again
If you dont want to blow your money go with the tomato juice/vinegar trust me lol it works!
Hope this helps you!

that's happened to me so many times, and that smell is the worst to get off. i've used all of the above mentioned, but i was thinking that maybe tomato sauce or ketchup might work since that's what is generally used for skunk spray. edit, oops i see someone already thought of that, oh well, great minds and owners of cats think alike!

Believe it or not, vinegar douche is your best bet. There is also a product that pet stores sell...I think it's called Skunk Away. But usually dogs get sprayed at night after the pet store is closed, so hit the local grocery store and get the vinegar douche.

The only way to get rid of the smell permanantly, is to shave the dog. The smell may be gone when the dog is dry, but as soon as it gets wet again, you'll smell it. For a temporary solution you can try dish soap like Dawn. If skunk spray is oily, Dawn should help get it out.

Wash the dogs in tomato juice.
If any skunk spray got on your clothes ... bury the clothing.

mix 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water and add few squirts of dawn dish liquid and bathe dog. Wet dog down with water, pour mixture on and lather well and let set 5 minutes. Rinse well with plain water, then use 1 part white vinegar and 10 parts water as final rinse, NO SOAP. [do not rinse out] the vinegar smell will fade.
wear old clothes and rubber gloves.
